I enjoyed the rest of the books in the series but this one was very poorly written. Lots of typographical errors!!The plot went nowhere and wandered as if looking for the end. I kept waiting for something interesting to develop and it never did. Skip this last book of the series. Not worth reading!!

Had devoured everything she had written.Then... this book.It reads like a high schooler's short story. The writing is blah, too detailed and developed in the front of the book, too rushed and all over the place in the back of the book. As an anthology piece, it would have been fine. But republishing it as a stand alone book... It should have been rewritten and fleshed out a little. It wouldn't have needed much. Five or ten thousand words could have transformed this book. As it was, it was a lazy piece that should never have followed up her impressive body of work. This is a post-on-your-website-for-free type of work, or a dedicate-time-and-make-it-a-full-length-novel.I am disappointed, to say the least.

Originally, written as a short story in anthology for George R.R. Martin’s Rogues. Clocking in 62 pages, the short story can be enjoyed under an hour.The unnamed narrator goes through life as a con artist but always wanted to be something more. As a side-gig as a psychic that sees aura, she comes across a troubled woman who is having issues at home. Thinking it would be an easy meal ticket, she agrees to come to the woman's house to cleanse it. Although as both women are about to find out, things are not as always what they seem.The book is a very quick read. It is thrilling and goes by fast. I did enjoy the book, but I felt the ending left me wanting more. As a talented writer, I believe Gillian could have definitely ended the book a bit better. A side qualm, I don't believe the book is worth the retail price of $10 as its only 62 pages and has huge font. It seems like another way to get money out of her fans. Save money and get the cheapest version, if possible -- as it is definitely worth a read at least once.**Disclosure - I received a free copy of this book for my honest opinion**

Unfortunately, I did not realize that it was only 65 pages when I ordered the book. The characters were not developed enough and would of liked a different ending----but sure that if the story was longer the development the characters would be deeper. I so much wanted the book to be similar to "Gone Girl" and it was not. I have read Gillian Flynn's "Gone Girl", "Dark Places", and now "The Grownup". Hopefully her next published story will be better.

Dark Secret By Maria T 3.5 StarsEmma is bored in her life and wishes for something more, but when she suddenly gets her wish will she wish things were boring once again?Emma is one to just kinda go with the flow of life, she may want things to be different but she doesn't really do much to change things. She is comfortable with herself and who she is and when life throws her a twist she accepts it and works to learn more.Micah is dark and mysterious and the sparks between them fly! The two quickly become something more before secrets work to destroy them. Can they find their way through and still be together or will the lies be too much?This is book 1 in a series and it does end in a bit of a cliffhanger. The story was fast paced, sometimes going a bit too fast and I was left wondering about the in-between bits that were skipped over. You get your fair share of questions as you go along with Emma as she works to learn about herself, but more of them do get answered throughout the story.Emma was a bit of a weak character at the beginning overlooking things just because she didn't want to deal with them, but as the story went on you definitely see her grow.Interesting story overall and I'm definitely curious to see where things go!

By Colorado Native I haven't read a paranormal book before, especially one with romance, so I wasn't quite sure how I would feel about this book. However, I have learned 2 things: One is that I'm in love with Michelle's works and the second is my new love for this genre. The book is sexy and steamy and has well developed characters that are much more realistic than you would expect for for being paranormal. I could not put the book down and finished it fast! I can't wait for part 2 to come out. . . please say it's soon!!! Well done, Michelle. You have me hooked!

By Lisa C I loved this whole series ~ from the first book, Inferno, to the last, Combust, this series is filled with everything you could ask for in a great MC romance ~ the guys are badass, the girls are sassy and the storylines for each of these books will tug at your heartstrings. Let me say, thank god we get all the answers and closure we need because well, you'll find out exactly what I mean ... Love the brotherhood between the guys of the Devil Chasers MC ~ absolutely a must read!

I loved the whole series By UIBB I loved the whole series, each book is better than the last!Inferno - We start out with the president of the MC, Cole Bishop, who has a son in elementary school. Cole's son gets into a bit of trouble prompting Cole to show up at the school where he meets the sexy teacher, Tessa Campbell. Tessa and Cole hit if off immediately and the sparks are flying. Problems begin to arise for both Cole and Tessa when a ghost from Tessa's past comes back to haunt Cole's MC. The death of one of the MC members leads us into book 2.Smolder - Taylor has been in love with her brother's best friend, Renegade, but when Taylor's brother Ace is killed in MC battle Taylor blames Renegade. Renegade has never believed himself good enough for Taylor and that is why he's never allowed a relationship to develop, since Ace's death he and Taylor have talked a few times and when Taylor asks to come for a visit Renegade doesn't hesitate to say of course. Then when Taylor doesn't show up Renegade becomes worries and sets out to find her, discovering her in the hospital where her current boyfriend, Tank, has put her. Tank also happens to be the member of a rival MC and Ren has decided to protect Taylor at all cost.Ignite - Probably my favorite book in the series. Tessa's cousin Lily needed a place to disappear to when she believed that her nephew JW is in danger. Cole gives her the job as a bartender for the club. The only problem is, his VP, Goliath, thinks that Lily is way to young and shouldn't have anything to do with the MC. Immediately upon meeting one another Goliath and Lily butt heads but also find one another attractive. I found their interactions hilarious, which is why this was one of my favorite books in the series. Goliath and Lily are doing great with JW in their lives until JW's father, whom Lily believes is out to hurt him, shows up and changes everything.Consumed - Courtney and Bobby aka Crack Nutt, my second favorite couple! Courtney is a friend of Lily, Taylor, and Tessa. While on babysitting duty in the previous book, she is run off the road with JW in the car and is just waking from her coma at the beginning of this book. Upon awakening, Courtney decides she's done waiting for Bobby to confess his love and claim her so she ends their relationship. Bobby sets out to prove that he does indeed love her. Bobby is really close to his MC brother, Sheppard, and towards the end of this book after a big battle and an accident involving Sheppard, the only person unwilling to believe that he is dead is Bobby.Combust - The most different book of the series, this book is based mostly in a cabin in the woods so we don't get a whole lot of the "MC" side... but I still really enjoyed it. Ana has had a rough few months. She was working on her residency at a local hospital, and even dating the hospital heads son but when she discovers something odd happening in the hospital she speaks up getting herself fired. While at home on her little cabin on the river she comes across a man half dead in the water. Sheppard was shot during the MC battle at the end of the previous book and fell into the river where he floated downstream and landed on the beach by Ana's home. Ana nurses Sheppard back to health and during their time together the sparks fly. At the end, Sheppard takes Ana back to the MC to introduce her to his brothers and they're all equally excited that he's alive. We get a nice HEA not only for this book but it also wraps​ up a few of the others too.I really enjoyed this entire series, it was definitely hard to put down at times. I highly recommend you check it out, definitely needs to be read in order.Reviewed by Lee'Anne

I read this in one day and then downloaded the rest of Mr. Mercer's books and look forward to reading them as well. His writing is excellent, his plot is great, his characters are well developed and well liked, and his lack of profanity is BIG-MUCH appreciated! Not easy to do. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Not as good as book one, but ok By Bobbie Fenton 2nd book in the series and I didnot like it as much as Hawk's book. I found Jax to be an ass, to me he was not a likeable character. It is hard to believe he had strong feelings toward Cherri when every time she saw him he was with another woman. I felt sorry for Cherri, she had a hard life. Finally she was trying to make something better for herself. Finally toward the end of the book Jax redeemed himself enough for me to change my opinion of him. I did like the way he handled himself with the club and the ending of the book. I wish the author would give the reader more with the other members and past characters in the stories. That being said I am looking forward to Chas/ Addie's book. Still would like book about Banger.

Sleep with her,then sleep with someone else to get back at her because she is afraid of a relationship. H says I will do my best to be faithful. I liked the first book in this series. This one was a long drawn out back and forth, I want you but not enough to not sleep with other people. If these books continue,I hope the storyline improves.

He is a big biker who demands not only respect, but the security of his club. He has always had a slew of woman at his beck and call, but up until recently has never had the urge to have just one woman. The one woman who seems to have him all tied up in knots, is the very woman that refuses to give him anything more than the time of day. Since rescuing her, Jax has had an on going hard on for Cherrie, and he has all but vowed that she WILL be his.Cherrie has had a hard life starting when she was just thirteen. Being raped by her stepfather, then ending up being a side piece for a politician, and to top it all off getting kidnapped by the Demons MC has just basically iced the cake for her. The only upside to all of it is that since the Insurgents saved her, she finally seems to have a chance to take care of things and maybe just maybe be safe for the first time in her life.For as strong and domineering as Hawk was, Jax makes him look like a teddy bear. He is a strong and brooding man who all but demands respect. Cherrie determined to keep to herself and get enough saved up to make a decent life for herself is glad to have the job and backing from the Insurgents, but having the over bearing biker sniffing at her hills is just a tad bit annoying because she is stuck trying to fight the attraction to him. The push and pull of this book will have you hollering at points would you two just hook up. But, on the flip side you get a strong understanding as to why Cherrie is fighting as hard has she is, because she doesn't only fear getting hurt, but she does not trust ANYONE easily. Then when her worst fear appears she knows that things could take a quick turn for the worst. The determination that Jax show's is just another reason as to why this book is such a great read. His frustration and actions due to that will have you going I know you did not just say or do that. Then, Chiah allows us to see a soft side of him and you really can't help but to fall in love with the overbearing jerk. As I got more and more into the book the realization of what all she has dealt with will have your heart breaking open for Cherrie and will actually have you building a connection with her character. The push, pull, and outright drama will have you unable to lay this book down. I must curse the book hangover I had after sitting up reading this story. It is one of those books that will have you hoping that every cloud really does have a silver lining.

By Ms.Meesh As a big Jennifer Probst fan, I was so excited to read this short story especially since I loved the Searching Series. Ms. Probst “kinnected” all the right dots in this hot steamy romantic story. Riley Fox is in search of Mr. Right. By Kara Hildebrand - Two Book Pushers I'm a sucker for second chance romances and characters who have amazing witty banter. Thank you, Jennifer for giving me both! Dylan and Riley went to college together and now they have been set up on a blind date. Queue the snow storm and scary house and you have perfection. They still have a spark and it must be fate that threw them together again. Riley isn't quite on board with it since Dylan doesn’t fit in her box, but he's willing to show her the way. This was a great heart warming story about love, fate and going after what you want!He reminded her of an angel, with a lean, muscled physique.
