After decades of squandering and abusing the earth’s natural resources the future of mankind was bleak. Humanity searched the earth for any remaining energy, hoping to discover an answer before the lights went out. They resurrected the ancient grounds of Eden, hoping to find its power – an extraordinary ore offering an unlimited source of energy. Gabriel Roberts, the son of the ore's discoverer, awakens to a horrific storm that kills his mother and leaves him with a piece of the ore plunged into his chest. He survives and is found by rescue teams the next day; their helpful nature changes as they discover what's in his chest. Panicked Gabriel unleashes a massive explosion from the ore in his chest. His estranged brother, Adin, arrives after the blast and takes him to hide live with him in the metropolis of Denver. It isn't long before strangers come looking for Gabriel. Attacked in the night, Gabriel is saved by a young woman with supernatural abilities. She leaves him promptly with only a warning to stay hidden and not to trust anyone. Gabriel rushes back to reconnect with his brother, but trouble follows and rips the two apart once again. Gabriel makes a daring escape, hoping Adin will be spared as their attackers chase after him. His world begins to spin out of control as he discovers a hidden war, raging on behind the scenes. As Gabriel learns about the true nature of the ore in his chest, he is forced to choose a side. A decision that will shape the course of humanity.

Eden's Ore - Secrets, by B.V. Bayly

Review The world that B. V. Bayly creates is really intriguing and the futuristic technology that is described has been really well thought through, which makes the story that much more believable and immersive. The characters were similar in this respect, which, when combined, made for a really good read - OnlineBookClub.org The concept of Eden's ore and the meaning behind the name, the uses and misuses of the ore, the human torture in the name of saving mankind, the groups of people involved to discover the secrets of the ores- the gangsters, the involvement of the church, scientists & their experiments, the government's involvement; negative and positive uses of the ores, secret labs... WOW!! I felt like I was either reading a Dan Brown novel or watching a James Bond movie. I feel B.V. Bayly is the upcoming Dan Brown in the field of sci-fi writings. - Crazy Bibliophile! What a great read! I was hooked from the beginning. The author set the scene and pace very quickly but left time to develop the characters very well. I had a hard time putting this book down. It had a very original idea and was a fantastic and enthralling story from start to finish. I can't wait to read more from B.V. Bayly - Book NuttersI'd recommend this Sci-Fi/Fantasy & even fans of YA. There's everything from action, discovery, science and a bit of a mystery. If that's not enough, the main character makes the story highly enjoyable and I found myself rooting for him. - The Reader's Hollow

From the Author This is the beginning of an amazing series. I dream of seeing hundreds of thousands of people enjoy my story. I wanted to make it that way so there would be no barrier for anyone to experience my world. Please share it, and encourage others to do the same.Welcome to my world. BVB

Thanks to YA Buddy Reader's Corner !This review was originally posted on Goodreads. Also, by my reviewing standards, this book rated 1 star)Oh boy, how I've struggled with this one ! I've never met a more annoying set of characters, I don't even know where to start. Maybe by the several things that bothered me throughout the whole story ?I feel like the characters aren't fleshed out enough. In the end, we know so very little about them. Despite everything, not enough time was spent on them as characters. There's also the fact that Gabriel is so annoying during, at least, a good 80% of the book. The thing that bothered me the most though is how casual and jaded he is about the whole ore-thing in the beginning. He's not even a little bit curious, he's just content lounging in his brother's apartment, letting his brother do all the work, and asking about what his brother found just as he would ask for the weather report in Taiwan ! I mean, it's not like the whole thing is happening to him, it's not like, if he takes into account everything he knows about ore, he's probably going to die because of the giant crystal embedded in his chest ! There's also a lot of, in my opinion, useless back and forth between Gabriel and Adin. They keep arguing about the same things, repeating the same stuff. It doesn't move the plot along, and it makes you feel like you're stuck on repeat. I also feel like the different POVs weren't necessary, especially Dr Cymru and Nate.On the whole, I think the idea was interesting, but the execution was really clumsy. It didn't feel finished, in my opinion. I expected a lot more, and I wasn't given anything I might have hoped for.

A fun and light adventure By Jesica Disclaimer: I received an copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest reviewIn a world where the world has advanced technology but can't find ways to sustain the energy needed, the ores are the answer to everyone's prayers. Gabriel's dad is the one that discovered them, and worked in TERA, a powerful organization that makes technology that works on the ores powers. But after the death of his father, Gabriel is raised by his mother and Nate, his father's best friend, while his brother decides to work for TERA to continue his father's legacy. But one night everything changes, and Gabriel realizes that there is way more to the ores that he knows.I really enjoyed this book. It was just what I wanted: A bit futuristic, with some mysterious powers, and good characters. I loved the writing, and some say that it starts slow, but to me, it gave me time to get to know the world, the characters and to connect to the story.I liked Gabriel, he can be a bit immature at times but he's strong, smart (most of the time) and knows what's important. I also liked Nate, and I want to know more about his past. I didn't find them annoying.I liked the story, I didn't find it slow or boring. It did feel a bit... small, but the world develops and expands even more in the second book.

I very much enjoyed reading this book and couldn't put it down. When I rate a book with four stars it means that I really liked it and five stars means it's one of my favorites. I felt like this book was in between.I loved the flow of events and how it all worked together as one. However there were times when I thought it jumped to the next event too quickly, not necessarily in the story, but rather in the writing(but also I've been sick when reading this so that also might partially be me). Otherwise! I thought it was great! This books grabs your attention immediately and holds it throughout the book and keeps you thinking about it when you stop reading, wondering what's going to happen next!I can't wait to read the next one and see the progression of the story as well as the writing! :D

I believe that Anne Hillerman has really captured the flavor and characteristics of her father's characters. Changing the character focus from Leaphorn and Chee to Bernie makes good sense, and Bernie's character is well-developed and continues to develop. The focus on Bernie's mother and sister is an effective vehicle for bringing out the character's thoughts and feelings. Necessarily, Chee and Leaphorn are less-well drawn, but avid readers will still be able to accept them.My major problem is with plot and craftsmanship. Unlike "Spider Woman's Daughter" that had an intricate and well-evolved plot, the plot line in "Rock with Wings" was never really that well developed. The lead-off character with his box of dirt was a MacGuffin for the most part; and the "bad man" behind it all was only portrayed as "bad" in the closing scenes. The plot device of the grave in Monument Valley didn't work for me, as it was a lot of work to build it up to be a controversial and critical component of the story, and then it actually had little or nothing to do with the main plot line in the end. Linking the two issues of the gravesite and the solar panels through the cheezy developer/producer was very weak, especially when it was totally undeveloped except by a passing reference. And finally, the "conversion" of the lead-off character from bad-guy to guy-who-wants-to-go-straight was almost childish.Overall I give this an "average" rating. I enjoyed the writing and the characters as sketched from Tony Hillerman's book, the writing style is very similar and comfortable. As a "who dunnit" though, it really isn't that suspenseful or challenging a story.

41 of 43 people found the following review helpful. Close, but no cigar. By J. F. Thompson Maybe it's just me, but I've read every one of Tony Hillerman's novels, as well as the first one in this continuation series. This second one in the series was very slow to get off the ground with, I thought, the author getting distracted by too many side-stories. Not particularly satisfying.

28 of 29 people found the following review helpful. Hasn't peaked yet By A.D. Hopkins Anne Hillerman is to be saluted for carrying forward the excellent characters developed by her late father -- Joe Leaphorn, Jim Chee, and Ms. Manuelito. But after reading so many Hillermans, one absolutely knows Jim or his police officer wife are going to get in trouble by not having a firearm handy while doing police business. One knows the villain is going to be some polished white guy. And it takes a long time to get to the end. However, I have seen other authors step into a parent's shoes and eventually fill them very better than the parent did. This is only the second book since she took the helm, and I'm going to buy the third to see if she gets less predictable and livelier.

Dale is happy and loved, completely fulfilled but the season of Christmas is approaching. He's thinking of his kids, of his past, and happy memories. He wants that for his kids. But Christmas isn't a tradition in his new life and the religious aspect is a no go. So Dale doesn't bring up his unhappiness with Keyno because he feels nothing can be done. The Harvest: A Tah'Narian Christmas is about family: Those we are born to and those we choose. Remembering the past and making new memories. Many of the characters from the series show up but of course the children steal the show. A few tongue in cheek comments had me snorting. Nothing like showing aliens what a traditional family Christmas is all about. A wonderful story and on my re-read list. - Dan's WifeCookies and milk .. . . Yes.EDIT: For those not familiar with M A Church's Tah'Narian books, this is a short glimpse in that universe and follows behind the others in the series. If you enjoyed this one, check out the others. The Harvest Taken and The Harvest Journey's End. Excellent series!

We got some more closure, and a view into the future for the young of all our favorite pairs. The chemistry between all the characters, sexual and platonic, is on point and evocative. I enjoyed this short and selfishly wish for more. 5 Stars!

Since then, Terry Goodkind has created an expansive and fascinating world, where Richard and Kahlan are the primary protagonists. This is the first review I have posted to Amazon (ever!) and as an Amazon Prime member, there have been hundreds of products/books/videos/devices that I could have made my first review. As it stands, I could no longer stand on the sidelines when it comes to reviewing the disappointing (AKA abysmal) conclusion to the EPIC series of Richard and Kahlan. My sister (who is 17 years older than me) was nearly as enchanted as I was with this series. After Richard initially ended the series by invoking the power of Orden, Terry Goodkind decided to extend the series for no reason. The Omen Machine, Third Kingdom, and Severed Souls, all left something to be desired for those of us that were fans of books like Faith of the Fallen. Unfortunately, "Warheart" may be the WORST book yet. I hate to say that, and especially after reading "Confessor" which was a palatable conclusion to this series, he decided to create more books for unclear reasons. This book is essentially a caricature of his writing, combining the worst elements in one volume. The overblown explanations, lack of a story, and constant switching between informing virgin readers of the series and satisfying avid fans make this novel an absolute mess.I sadly spent money on this novel, and I am truly disgusted with myself. Out of the over 400 pages, there might be 20 worth reading, especially when compared with the previous works that Terry Goodkind has penned. The best analogy I can come up with is if you happened to be a fan of the Original Star Wars trilogy, Terry Goodkind's latest works are like Jar Jar Binks wrote the conclusion. Enough Said.

I like the fact that the book moved quickly By paul little Well thank goodness that is done and dusted and this time, surely, there are no more reasons to brush through the embers of this burnt out series. So many hours of reading, so much excitement from the first two or three books and then all too much head scratching as fantasy turned to franchised politicking that gave way to repetitive padding.I like the fact that the book moved quickly, that most ends were tied up, that there were not too many issues with chronology as the several thousands of years of history were finally explained in a short story plot told in novel format. Honestly, though, the inability of certain people to stay dead and the sheer quantity of Deus ex machina makes this very tiring to read.As a fan of the series it made sense to read this book and I did get some pleasure from it, but it was a thin gruel when compared to the feast of the earliest volumes.

42 of 48 people found the following review helpful. The End of an Era By Erik Thiel When Terry shared that this novel would be the finale to Richard and Kahlan's story I was filled with sadness. My journey with these characters began back in 2008. I had discovered the show "Legend of the Seeker" and thought it was pretty enjoyable. I decided to check out the book series the show was (loosely) based on. I was blown away by just how much better the story was than the show. I quickly purchased and consumed the entire original "Sword of Truth" box sets, only to be disappointed when there was nothing left. Since then, we've had the release of the four "Richard & Kahlan" novels, the "Law of Nines," and "The First Confessor." I've enjoyed all of those novels, and that brings us to "Warheart."This is what we've been waiting for -- or have we been dreading it? I had mixed emotions as I approached the novel. After spending seven years with these characters, I did not want their story to end (I can only imagine how people who have been with Richard from the very first publication feel).Anyone who invested any amount of time in the journey of Richard and Kahlan should enjoy this novel. Does it speak to me in the same way that "Wizard's First Rule" or "Faith of the Fallen" did? No. Those novels were more of the sprawling, behemoth-type fantasy novels you'd expect to come right out of the 90's. Comparatively, this chapter of the journey is only about half as long as either of those titles. There is just enough time to tie up some loose ends, reunite with beloved characters, and conclude this arc of the story.Where did Richard end up, and is he gone for good? What's happening with prophecy? What is the real endgame for Hannis Arc? All of these questions and more are answered satisfactorily. Yet, for some reason, I was left craving more. I devoured the novel in about five hours, but it left me feeling somewhat empty. Perhaps, though, I just miss the length and expansiveness of the previous entries in the series.All-in-all, "Warheart" concludes the series respectfully enough. I liked the novel, but I wouldn't say I loved it. Recommended for anyone who has kept up with the series since the "Chainfire" trilogy ended.

"Welcome to the land of sliding doors and slant-eyed whores..." These were the words that greeted Major Jake Culpepper, USA, on arriving in Saigon as a military advisor in late November 1963. A few minutes later the fellow-officer and friend who spoke the words was dead, blown apart by a Viet Cong bomb planted in the officer's mess hall. Jake Culpepper with two draft-age sons, recently divorced by a woman who bitterly hated the army, calling it his "mistress", was the product of four generations of career Army men. But he was unprepared for this nightmare war and he asked early on; "How do we know who the bad guys are?" Here is a sweeping novel of the war with no victors, only victims. Here is the story of Mot, anguished secret agent of the Viet Cong; of Kristin, fervent Freedom Rider, intensely in love with Culpepper, who stands for all she opposes; of Culpepper's two sons--Andy who refused a commission and fought as a "grunt", and Mike, who went to Canada and defied the draft; of Larry Cantrell a black man with a brilliant future who risked everything in a war he hated; of Melinda, high-priced plaything of generals who at last found her true, impossible love. Here by a much-decorated Viet Nam veteran, is a panoramic novel that chronicles more completely and vividly then ever before, the years of the nightmare war--a novel that climaxes

I was there during TET in 68, and this story clearly points out the failure of our foreign policy. Our country seems to use war as a solution to foreign policy. Korea made sense as did the first Golf war, but the others have cost us dearly in lives and money.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. The Quick and The Dead By Jim W A good story about the tragic effect of the Vietnam War on a man and his family. I would have rated the book higher except the editing and spelling made it difficult to read and follow at times.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. TRAUMA OF WAR By Sibyl Mory This brilliantly-structured book is set during the horrors of the Vietnam War. Jacob Steele Culpepper, latest in a long line of ancestors spending their lives in the military, and recently divorced, is wangled a posting to Vietnam as a military adviser by his traditionalist father. Kristin, who takes a questioning attitude to America's 'imperialistic' military adventures, becomes romantically and sexually involved with him, despite her differing outlook. Andy, his son, also comes to Vietnam as a combatant. The full trauma and moral ambiguities and complexities of the Vietnam nightmare are explored here with incisive and brutal realism. The lives of the array of protagonists (on both sides of the conflict, and those on no side at all but their own), with their doubts, beliefs, secrets, loves, sexual lives and their sense of duty are portrayed against the tragic backdrop of a war beyond the understanding and shaping of those who find themselves haplessly deposited there by history. Superb.

City of Bones, by Michael Connelly

Amazon.com Review Since his first appearance in 1992's Edgar-winning The Black Echo, Detective Hieronymous "Harry" Bosch has joined Dennis Lehane's Patrick and Angie, George Pelecanos's Derek Strange, and Greg Rucka's Atticus Kodiak in the pantheon of new-school hard-boiled detectives. Rather than giving Bosch a clever gimmick (like Jeffery Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme, who is a quadriplegic), Michael Connelly embraces the noir archetype: Bosch, an L.A. homicide detective, is a chain-smoking loner who refuses to play by his superiors' rules. Although he has quit smoking, Harry's still the same tightlipped outsider, taking each crime as a personal affront as he tries to cleanse his beloved city of the darkness he sees engulfing it.

In City of Bones, Connelly's eighth Bosch title, Bosch and his well-dressed partner, Jerry Edgar, are working to identify a child's skeleton, buried for 20 years in the forest off Hollywood's Wonderland Drive, and to bring the killer to belated justice. For Bosch this is more than just another homicide, as the mystery child, beaten and abandoned, comes to represent much of what he sees as evil in his city. Add in a tragic love affair with a fellow cop, complications from overzealous media, and the growing feeling that he's fighting a losing battle about which no one cares, and the usually stoic Bosch is pushed to his limits. This isn't the strongest plot Connelly has concocted for Bosch, but it leads to an ending the whole series has been building toward. The conclusion may not shock longtime fans, but it will leave them wondering where the series will go from here. --Benjamin Reese

From Publishers Weekly Harry Bosch is at the top of his form which is great news for Connelly fans who might have been wondering how much life the dour, haunted LAPD veteran had left in him. His latest adventure is as dark and angst-ridden as any of Bosch's past outings, but it also crackles with energy especially in the details of police procedure and internal politics that animate virtually every page. What other crime writer could make such dramatic use of the fact that the front door of a house trailer swings out rather than in, creating problems for a two-man team of detectives? Who else would create to such credible narrative effect an egotistic celebrity coroner who jeopardizes an investigation because she lets a TV camera crew from Court TV follow her around, or an overage female rookie cop so in love with danger that she commits an unthinkable act? When the bones of an abused 12-year-old boy who disappeared in 1980 turn up in the woods above Hollywood (near a street named Wonderland, where former governor Jerry Brown used to live), the case stirs up Bosch's memories of his own troubled childhood. Also, as his captain so aptly points out, Harry is the LAPD's prime "shit magnet," an investigator who attracts muck and trouble wherever he goes. So it's no great surprise when the investigation takes a couple of nasty turns, right up through the last chapter. Connelly is such a careful, quiet writer that he can slow down the story to sketch in some relatively minor characters a retired doctor, a couple who lived through their foster children without missing a beat. (One-day laydown Apr. 16)Forecast: Connelly doesn't need much help in hitting the charts, but Little, Brown is going all out anyway, with a massive television, radio and print ad campaign, transit ads in New York and a 10-city author tour. Expect blockbuster sales and blockbuster satisfaction. Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information, Inc.

From Library Journal The trouble with Harry: wrapped up in a fresh new love affair and a case involving the scattered bones of a long-dead child, he finds that he must make a momentous decision. Copyright 2001 Reed Business Information, Inc.

62 of 66 people found the following review helpful. Fast paced, engaging police procedural. By Silver Springer I have heard lots of good comments about the Harry Bosch novels and I was not disappointed with this seventh book of the series. Bosch is a hard boiled homocide detective in the Hollywood division of the LAPD who gets a call that a dog has discovered a human bone. The investigation uncovers a 20 year old murder of a 12 year-old boy who was the victim of child abuse. As the case proceeds, Bosch meets and becomes involved with a rookie cop named Julia Brasher, who has an idealistic view of police work. Some information leaks and false clues initially sidetrack the investigation but slowly the victim is identified and his short and tortured life revealed. Connelly draws his characters with fine strokes and his development of the details of the police procedures which are key to solving cases was really fascinating to me. Understanding the murder book, how warrants were drawn up and served, and details behind the forensic investigation added to my enjoyment of the story.False directions provide intrigue but I was a little disappointed with the unsatisfying way the murderer was revealed and dealt with. All in all though, a fast paced (I read it in one 24 hour period), and very enjoyable read.

53 of 59 people found the following review helpful. Too Many Ghosts By Marc Ruby™ I bought 'City of Bones' when it first came out, but put off reading it for a bit. The last couple of Connelly's novels about Detective Harry Bosch seemed a bit off pace, so I was waiting for a tolerant moment. Once I started reading I discovered that my premonitions were wrong, and that this was going to be a high water mark in the eight volume series.Michael Connelly has a trick of creating an introspective mood without actually making his characters become solipsistic, and 'City of Bones' at its deepest level is about Harry Bosch coming to grips with his own beliefs and needs. This subtext threads its way through a case involving the 20-year-old corpse of a young boy found buried in a small plot of woods. Cases this old are rarely soluble, but somehow just enough information keeps coming to the surface to keep Bosch and his partner, Jerry Edgar, working away at the case. Gradually Bosch becomes fixated on the case as its ramifications begin to have echoes in his own life. One of the key factors in Bosch's character development is a new relationship with rookie police officer Julia Brasher. She is the officer on duty at the murder site, and is drawn into the investigation. This relationship becomes the model for all the other relationships in the book; especially those Bosch has with his partner and his work. In the end it triggers something unexpected in the older detective, and will eventually cause him to make some surprising decisions.Beyond the character level, the plot is tightly drawn and well paced. Generally, a story that turns on forensic police procedure is interesting rather than exciting, but Connelly has goes to great lengths to prove that this does not have to be the case. There is a surfeit of plot twists and the high emotional pitch will keep the reader on tenterhooks - a delightful form of torture, too rarely experienced in the present.Obviously, I enjoyed the book. I found myself intentionally slowing down my reading speed in order to extend my pleasure with a writer whose minimalist style always seems to have more to say than the efforts of wordier contemporaries. This is a milestone in the Harry Bosch series, but hopefully not its last, shining moment.

It really left me unsatisfied By MadHatter Lets start off with telling you how much i love Michael Connelly's books, but then this one just left me not satisfied at all.first off, the book got me really hooked, i really liked it alot!when a simple walk out with the dog turns up a bone from the woods, and investigation goes out to search for where the bone comes from. very good with some details and such, but then the only negative of this book is that it left too many questions unanswerd. I didn't like it the way it ended, when they find or think this person is the kids killer, then bam...what the?? i really wanted to know what went on! if i give any more information about it, then i would basically be giving away the book.its a good read, but if your the type that doesn't like to dwell on why this wasn't answered or what happened to cause this killing...then this book isn't for you.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Kowalski in action! By Jerry Zavada A fast paced novella that gives us additional information about Joe Kowalski. This one has a bit of everything you can imagine; a rescue of a researcher, computer hacking by unknowns, car chase through the streets of Washington DC, major gun shootout, a bit of science with Ancient DNA research. Yep, this 5 star Novella has it ALL! Well done Mr James Rollins! NOW, we want more

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. A decent read for the price. By Nilesh Nimkar It is a decent standalone Sigma story. It is nice to see Kowalski get some screen time for a change. James does take some liberties with how computers work and in this day and age that's a shame. E.g. a hacker does not need a person to physically unlock a computer to hack it remotely. If it's hackable remotely it will be compromised remotely. Also it's pointless to "bounce" a connection across a internal LAN with only eight desktops. He really should have talked to someone who knows computers. Hence the three stars or else this book was worth four stars. Also included are the first few chapters of the new upcoming book which have piqued my curiosity and will probably make me spend money on it.

9 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Adventure on the Mall as only Rollins can write it. By John Patin A good intro. Of COURSE this short story is a teaser for an upcoming novel - but that is a good thing. While Midnight Watch might very well turn out to be the opening chapter of The Bone Labyrinth, it stands on its own as a tight, thrilling, short story. It has a beginning, a middle and an END. You want to know what the bad guys were up to, of course, but this short doesn't leave you hanging on the edge of a cliff. Also, the good news is that Labyrinth is due out in December, so no real wait in any case. Well worth the 99 cents.

Bittersweet Starlet and Cantankerous Greek By Erani Kole *received an arc in exchange for an honest review*This was as adorable as it was sad and maddening. Pollyanna's a sweet girl, and the only one on the island who has no idea of the secrets lurking so close to home. I absolutely loved Kyr and his cantankerous attitude the whole duration of this book, and it was sweet to see him slowly open up. Until it all went to hell. The writing was amazing, immediately drawing me in and making me forget that I was ever reading words on a page. The dialogue- inside and out the mind -flowed nicely, and again, I'm surprised at how much I found myself drawn to Kyr. He's on my naughty list right now but his initial reaction to her, his first impressions on meeting Pollyanna, made his previous feelings and character seem more real. There was no fall first think later for him, he had a torturous fall while completely aware of it all (good for you).As part one to their story, the romance's build-up was extremely sweet on Polly's end, totally had me in rapture. Kyr's was a little more bittersweet because he fought with facing his past and keeping his future. If 'part one' didn't clue you in on this having a cliffhanger, then I'm here to tell you it ends on a doozy of a cliffhanger. It never fares well to hang on a cliff like that, but in this case I'd say I'm glad it didn't leave me like it had the chapter before. I was an emotional wreck.I recommend this really cute story with the full course meal of drama, the hot amazing sexuals, and the ill-mannered thoughts of a Greek billionaire who just can't seem to be any different from the Tin Man himself: cold and heartless. But don't read it for that jerk of a man, read it for the breath of fresh air and almost fairy-tale like wonder that is Polly's life, set on the beautiful Greek island, Teleios. Definitely makes me think back to my first love.

He knows it will take a lot of hard work. He tells Ana it will take a few years, but he will make the resort profitable.Ana is spoiled by her parents and Kyr. The Islanders think she is proper and sweet, and perfect for Kyr. Ana always dreamed of leaving the island and making it big. Kyr ask Ana to wait until he can make the resort a success. When he catches Ana sneaking off the island, he's devastated. He tells her if she leaves, she loses him forever. When she left, she destroyed his heart.Pollyanna is visiting her Godparents for the summer. She meets Kyr, the arrogant Billionaire. She worms her way into his life. She shows him how to have fun and enjoy life. She is sweet, kind, and selfless. She falls madly in love with Kry, not knowing he has no love to return. You can't help but love these Greek billionaires. Ms. Tee knows how to write like no one else when it comes to these sexy arrogant men. Kry is starting out a little tamer then the other Greek men........I didn't use my tissues :) But, I think she's going to hit us hard in the next two books. I hate the waiting between books, the suspense kills me !!!! I think Ms. Tee gets sadistic pleasure with her cliffhangers ;)As usual, Ms. Tee delivers.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A touch of heartache. By F.A. Woke up this morning, and was suprised by Ms. Tee about her new book. I read it in one sitting.I remembered this Greek Billionaire as the author previously stated where he made an appearance. The prologue for the hero was definitely bitter and heartbreaking. I felt for him and it changed him.The heroine, Pollyana was innocent in all ways and very sweet but that was the trait that captured Kyrillos attention. In her own way, she was able to pass through most of Kyrillos' defenses, still he did not want to give his heart to her because of what he experienced and when he learned of Pollyana's relationship to a certain someone.I felt for Pollyana when Kyrillos used her when he learned the latest news about Ana although he admitted he was selfish wherein Pollyana was concerned. The ending, well, I understood from his point of view that it was deja vu so I did not expect what he would do.I will definitely prepare myself for the heartache especially about Pollyana when she discovers the secrets that Kyrillos kept from her. Can't wait for the next book and hopefully, I don't have to wait too long for the next two books.I receivd an arc from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Meghan and Bryce are the perfect couple. Then they breakup and Meghan is with Eric. What a roller coaster of emotions. Meghan knows what she wants but can't ask Eric. Bryce is so in love with Meghan and i was cheering for them. But it all works out. I absolutely loved this book. Can't wait for the next one.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Hot. Hot. Hot. By Laurie S I loved the idea of coming to terms with their sexuality. I also liked the authors ability to see that it is possible to love more than one person. The one thing that I kept coming back to though is the unsafe sex. In today's age of HIV and AIDS I would have liked to see the use of condoms especially going from anal to vaginal sex.

5 of 7 people found the following review helpful. 2.5 stars- It's okay but don't expect any love or emotional connection with between the characters because it's all about HER. By Joy I liked this book at first. The writing was fine, pacing, structure and plot was good, but I just couldn't put my finger on what was bothering me about this story. It didn't hit me until further into the book when I realized the main character is amazingly self centered. She's very in touch with what she wants sexually and not afraid to take steps to ensure what she wants, but she doesn't really take the male character's feelings into consideration. The story is centered around what the Protagonist wants and not about what the male leads need. The story is basically made up of three acts, Protagonist's relationship with first man, P's relationship with second man and the last act is about the Protagonist's efforts to integrate the two men into a functioning threesome relationship.MILD SPOILERS AHEAD.Act 1: The female main character (henceforth referred to as MC) discovers her secret need to have sex with two men and her bf's latent bi tendencies. It get's taken a little too far and the bf makes a mistake, confesses and MC get's upset and leaves him.Act 2: MC has a new bf and then proceeds to "convert" him to bi-sex so her need for threesome sex can be fulfilled. He doesn't fight too much, but she get's upset when he isn't as emotionally into it as she wants him to be. This get's resolved by the bf submitting to her demands.Act 3: MC is mildly unsatisfied with casual threesomes, at the same time her ex reaches out to her to apologize. She refuses to talk with him, but they see each other out and about and he kisses her bringing her to the realization that she is still lusting after her ex. This is confusing to her since she's "In love" with her current man and doesn't want to screw it up, but can't shake the lustful thoughts she still has for the ex. The rest of the act is the MC trying to line all the ducks in a row for the complete package- a long term, monogamous menage relationship. This book is mostly about the MC's need for satisfying her own sexual desires and the two men are peripheral satellites that orbit her planet, so to speak. The MC mentions how much she "Loves" her bf's, but her actions speak more of Manipulation than love. At the end I was hoping that the two men would run off and leave the MC, I found her that distasteful. There were a lot of sex scenes with random thirds and were fine. If you are looking for a "Hot" read then this would satisfy that requirement, but if you were looking for an emotional connection handled with sensitivity and a fulfilling loving EQUAL relationship between all three characters, you need to go elsewhere. It was hard to have any connection with any of the characters because it was written in third person, mostly from the MC's perspective and since I didn't find the MC a very sympathetic character, I never felt anything for any of the characters. There's another thing that skeeved me out, none of the characters ever used any condoms! When you having sex with strangers I would expect there to be some protection. Yes, this is fiction and talking about condoms isn't sexy or romantic, but you know what else isn't sexy? STDs.My problem is that I like stories with a real connection between all the characters not just hot sex. I want to see that the characters are making sacrifices to be together and really working out all the issues that a MMF relationship might have in their lives. If you're just looking for a light, sexy read that's written better than most of the other menage books out on Kindle right now, then pick it up. If you're looking for an emotionally satisfying menage romance then you may want to skip this one.

From Booklist

When Libby Miller receives a shocking cancer diagnosis from a less-than-empathetic doctor, she thinks it’s the worst thing that could happen to her. Having watched her mother slowly and agonizingly lose her own battle with cancer, Libby is determined that she will not put her family through a similar experience. She decides to forego treatment and is about to break the news to her husband, but before she can, he delivers astonishing news of his own. With no marriage to speak of and only months remaining, Libby decides to live like there’s no tomorrow. Telling no one of her plans, she escapes to the equatorial sun of Vieques, a small island near Puerto Rico. But will her resolve withstand the concern of her twin brother, the friendship of her island landlady, and the growing love of a handsome Puerto Rican pilot? Instead of doom and gloom, Libby’s journey is one of hilarious turns and heartfelt realizations. Though unrealistic, it is just the uplifting medicine some doctors would order. —Cortney Ophoff

Review

“More than just a cancer narrative, Life and Other Near Death Experiences is a story about seizing life and ditching what others expect of you. It will make you laugh. It will make you ugly cry. And it will make you want to live your own life to its greatest potential.” —HelloGiggles

“Camille Pagan's Life and Other Near-Death Experiences is anything but formulaic: it's unceasingly delightful, and Libby Miller is a sensitive, super-smart Everywoman hero you'll come to adore.” —Bustle

“Tackling two serious topics with grace and humor, Ms. Pagan has delivered a novel full of rich characters and a quick-paced story line...This story is an easy read about uneasy topics, something hard to accomplish but that Ms. Pagan does wonderfully.” —Manhattan Book Review

That was this book for me. I chose it as my October early-release freebie through Prime. The same day I ordered this, I downloaded about 4 other books through my public library. I was going to read a few pages from each book and see which grabbed my attention. I started with this book and just kept reading. It was well written and well edited. Witty humor was interjected throughout, and while centered around a deep subject, the book was light and yes, maybe a bit fluffy. I felt that the main characters were well developed and part of what kept me hooked was that I cared about Libby and wanted to see what happened to her. I appreciate that this was a "clean" book - no swearing, no explicit sex scenes, but I would have liked Libby's first love scene to have been slightly more detailed. At only a sentence or two long, at first I wasn't sure if it was something that had actually happened.I disagree with what one reviewer said about everything being neatly tied up in a bow at the end. Not everything with Libby was tied up at the end of the book -which I found surprisingly unpredictable. Yes, there was a happy ending of course - and I would not have wanted it any other way.(Getting an early release copy through Prime is in no way tied to a promise of writing a review.)

In first person narrative she tells us her story with chattiness, depth and underlying humor. Diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, she thinks life for her might soon be: "Eat, Pray, DIE.” Then she faces another upset when her husband confesses his “truth” to her. Libby faces personal devastation--yet from her journey we learn resilience and “REAL LIFE.”Libby no longer has the positive outlook that her brother Paul described: "But for you, Libby, the whole world is filled with kittens and rainbows and happy endings. It's very cute and probably helps you sleep at night. I just worry about you sometimes." Now Libby thinks, "I'd taken a wrong turn at happy and run smack-dab into a dead end." I felt “inside” Libby as she copes with her breaking-apart life. What does she decide to do? Sell everything—go traveling--find a meaningful answer, perhaps.Libby is a person we cheer for and laugh with even as she brings tears to our eyes. This book is an EASY READ on the surface, yet Libby's narration, memories, hopes and fears are far from easy to gloss over. Personally, I love this character; she is real to me. I think many readers of this PERSONAL NOVEL will feel the same. The author’s writing skills are superb, heart-to-heart, yet no wasted words.

I've been a avid reader of nearly every genre, from fluff to serious novels all my life, but one thing I can't stand is poor writing. I've given up on many, many books because the author just couldn't cobble together more than a few good sentences or had a decent first couple of chapters then went awry, especially in this day of e-publishing. Fortunately this is not one of those books. The premise was ok, the writing was ok, the book kept my attention for the entire evening it took to read, but I had problems with some of the main character's actions, especially related to her (soon to be) ex-husband's reveal. And especially in the light of her twin brother's situation. My other problem with this book was how everything was neatly tied in a bow in the end.But if you can't find a fluffy book that holds your attention, I'd recommend this. It's good enough.

Jack "Preacher" Prior is at a crossroads -- literally. Left for dead in the Badlands, he's managed to survive. He's stolen a truck, but where can he go? Body broken, mind reeling from betrayal from his own MC brothers, he knows he won't last a day back in Rapid City in his current condition. Two roads stretch out in front of him. One leads to the city and one deep into the black hills where no one knows him as the former President of the Badlands Buzzards. Revenge is not a question; it's an absolute. Preacher will get his due soon enough or die trying. Erin Walker is at a crossroads of her own. Dealt a bad hand by being the daughter of Buck Walker, ex-Rodeo Champ, she's made her own way in the world without his help. She owns Thunder Ridge Ranch outright, and she's carved out a piece of paradise for herself with her own two hands. She's not giving it up without a fight, but she's alone in the world with no one to trust. In Erin, Preacher finds something that doesn't exist in his own world: a smart, fierce independent woman who sets his blood on fire. For Erin, the mysterious man who threatens her life might very well be the only one who can save it. Can Preacher put aside his desire for revenge against his old MC and accept what's in front of him: a woman who needs him and a future worth having? Erin knows in her heart that Preacher is a bad, dangerous man, but can she trust him anyway? Not every choice is theirs to make, though, and in Rapid City the past never stays buried.

35 of 35 people found the following review helpful. Preacher was worth every minute I waited to get my greedy hands on him. By Amazon Customer I’ll start with the obligatory “I received a free ACR in return for an honest review*side note* It is absolutely not a requirement to have read the Burnout or Stark Inc series to understand or enjoy Preacher, but it would probably be really fun if you did.Preacher.What can you really say about Preacher? Well a lot actually but not without telling the entire story and ruining every heart wrenching, exasperating and thrilling moment. If you are a fan of Dahlia West, you are familiar with Shooter, which means you know all about getting Slick off the bus/doing Shooter a “favor” by bringing him back his “house mouse’’ scene. Which was by far my favorite Preacher moment (until now). Don’t ask why just go with it. This means that if you’re anything like me you have also been not so patiently waiting for a chance at Preacher’s story. And if you are like me each time that Preacher was mentioned you got down on your knees and prayed to whatever muse Dahlia uses that she found the inspiration and wrote Preacher’s story. I mean really he’s a man of mystery. We don’t ever truly get a lot of back ground on him so we’re intrigued. This brings me to now. Now I know the truth. Jack “Preacher” Prior is an ice for blood in his veins man. He gets played by his own people, left to die, takes a hostage (does a really bad job at that) disposes of bodies, lies, cheats, steals and then ends up where? On a farm, with a Rooster that’s a ninja pimp, a dog as his sidekick, a stallion with an agenda and Erin. Erin who is good and clean and honest and just wants a chance to prove that she can do it and doesn’t need a man to take care of her (cliché I know but it fits this story I promise). She is as fearless as Jack is damaged, and as open as he is closed off. Because he doesn’t think he deserves what she is offering, he doesn’t even know how to give back a little bit of what she is offering him. But see that’s the power a good (that’s an important word there) woman has. Men say “they can’t” (and Jack sure did A LOT) and women say “Yes you can, you’re an idiot”. And despite everything she has given him, he just can’t because he still doesn’t want to believe that he is deserving of anything good and sweet and clean. So no in retrospect Jack really doesn’t deserve the second chance that seems to be right in front of him. He doesn’t deserve a good, honest woman to sink into at night. He certainly doesn’t deserve a chance to fall asleep with both eyes closed and sleep deep. He doesn’t deserve a chance to have dreams and memories of and with a good women and a future, because his past just won’t leave him alone. And until his past is just a fading memory he won’t get a second chance. So, as I say in all my 5star reviews, go do yourself a favor, One-click Preacher. Get the story of the boy who became the man who held Rapid City in his hands, and in two defining moments lost it not once but twice. Read about the man who isn’t looking for redemption, he knows he is beyond it and the one women who might be just more stubborn than him for believing he deserves it and that she deserves him.

He was the childhood friend of Shooter (book 1 of the series) so you just knew that if Shooter once liked him that there had to be potential for a decent man to emerge. In this story, Preacher's life as head of the Buzzard's crime ring comes to an abrupt halt when he is betrayed by power hungry underlings. Against the odds, he survives the treachery and burns for revenge. Only something unexpected happens. He ends up on a horse rehabilitation ranch run by a caring, but strong woman. She teaches him another way of life and slowly shows him the possibility for a different future, if he wants a different life. But Preacher's old life isn't one he can simply walk away from...so he has to find a way out if he wants a future with her. And the way out is fraught with danger and deadly peril.I loved this book. I loved he first book, Shooter. The subsequent books, Tex, Easy, etc....were a big let down. This is the first one that lives up to Shooter. The love story evolves over time. She's a strong woman, but she can't make it on her own. She needs a strong man who can handle the predators in her life. He's a bad man, he's never learned gentleness or been free from the constant threat of violence. He's steeped in aggression and violence...it's all he's ever known. She exposes him to a new way of living, giving him hope for a future, a real future. Loved it.

This latest from Ms. West is actually a 5 plus star book!We met Preacher in some of her previous books in her Burnout series. This book gives us an indepth look into this complex character. Preacher has had a life full of despair and violence but when he's drugged, beaten and left for dead in the Badlands, he comes back to life so to speak and evolve into a person that is so much more than even he thought possible. He meets a strong, smart woman named Erin who shows him that there is another side to life than fighting everyone around him to survive. This can be a stand alone book, however it will be more enjoyable if the reader reads Ms. West's Burnout series first or at least her book Shooter. Many of her characters from previous books make appearances in this book and her previous books will give the reader a much better understanding of them and how their shared pasts with Preacher help to round out his character.I really loved this book and highly recommend it to any reader that is looking for a good drama filled read.
