A Scoring Chances Novel Drafted to play for the Jacksonville Sea Storm, an NHL affiliate, twenty-year-old Lane Courtnall’s future looks bright, apart from the awkwardness he feels as a gay man playing on a minor league hockey team. He's put his foot in his mouth a few times and alienated his teammates. Then, during a rivalry game, Lane throws off his gloves against Jared Shore, enforcer for the Savannah Renegades. It’s a strange way to begin a relationship. Jared’s been playing minor league hockey for most of his career. He’s bisexual and doesn’t care if anyone knows. But he’s determined to avoid another love affair after the last one left him devastated. Out of nowhere a one-nighter with rookie Lane Courtnall gives him second thoughts. Lane reminds Jared why he loves the game and why love might be worth the risk. In turn, Jared hopes to show Lane how to be comfortable with himself on and off the ice. But they’re at different points in their careers, and both men will have to decide what they value most.

Review "I can highly recommend this book. For those that read and loved Avon's first book Let the Wrong Light In, you will especially love this more warm-and-fluffy tale with a dynamic between the main characters that is just as strong and passionate." -- Gay Book Reviews  "It's literally going down as one of the best books of my year and maybe all time... so much CHARACTER in this book." -- The Blogger Girls "If you like sports themed romances with a touch of humor, a quirky MC and a wonderful supporting cast you'll have fun with this story." -- Sinfully Gay Romance Book Reviews "I have never read anything by Avon Gale before, and I will certainly read more, it was a pleasure to read about a relationship that didn't depend on angst, and felt true to life." -- Prism Book Alliance"...do you even get how rare it is to come across a hockey story (or any sport) that really gets how people feel about the sport? Like not just the players, but the atmosphere and just almost childish delight at being able to play the game? This book is everything that made me fall in love with hockey." -- Love Bytes ReviewsBreakaway is a finalist in the 2015 Bisexual Book Awards in the Fiction: Romance category.

He’s just moved from Canada to Jacksonville, Florida. Too bad he has alienated most of his team before the first game starts with his inability to filter his thoughts before speaking. At 31, Jared Shore knows his time playing hockey is nearing an end. Cast as the villain enforcer for the Renegades, Jared’s used to fighting on the ice, and when rookie Lane Courtnall drops his gloves to instigate a fight in his first game, Jared knows just why he is doing it. When he runs into Lane at a bar later that night, things get strange, then they get hot and then they can’t wait to do it again. Good thing their teams are rivals with plenty of games to look forward to, not that Jared’s looking for a relationship or that Lane even knows what’s going on!I really enjoyed this story. Once again Avon Gale has created a quirky and loveable character in the socially awkward Lane. He’s “not good at feelings” and says things as they pop into his head, often taking what other people say quite literally. He needs to pause to think about things he’s not sure he understands, even if it occurs in the middle of sex. Lane is not very experienced, but is eager to learn everything he can from Jared, who is more than happy to oblige.Jared is a sweetheart. He knows where he stands in the league and that he needs to start considering life after hockey. While Lane is learning a lot from him, Jared also starts seeing things differently after spending time with Lane, realizing how the events that started his career were still holding him back after so many years. The way he embraces the “weird” that is Lane just made me smile. The dual point of view works great and the two MC’s have very different personalities. They fall very easily into their relationship with no unnecessary drama between them. It’s not often that I find myself laughing in the middle of a hot sex scene before getting right back to it. I loved the way Jared and Lane kept their rivalry on the ice and each played to win, trash talk and all. You don’t have to be a hockey lover to enjoy the entertaining on-ice scenes. The biggest issues that both men have to deal with concern their parents and, for Lane, coming out to his team. Both had different experiences, good and bad, as far as their families supporting their interests and responding to their sexualities, but neither has been all that good communicating about it and tensions grow throughout the story. In addition to Jared and Lane, there are a number of well written supporting characters including Lane’s new best friend Zoe, his roommates Riley and Ryan, and the rest of the Storm and Renegades players. I’m really looking forward to the next story about quiet Sea Storm goalie Riley.Breakaway is a completely different book than Avon Gale’s debut, Let the Wrong Light In. This is a straight forward romance about two men falling in love and incorporating each other into their lives, with no major angst or drama. There are still bumps in the road of course, but it’s a lighter, feel good love story. If you like sports themed romances with a touch of humor, a quirky MC and a wonderful supporting cast you’ll have fun with this story.Reviewed by Debra for Sinfully Gay Romance Book Reviews

Lane is by far one of the funniest most delightful characters I’ve ever read. I couldn’t get enough of his quirkiness, social ineptness, and outspoken nature! He is HILARIOUS! Of course Jared is pretty much his opposite. And he GETS Lane and because it’s hockey and love it’s perfect!I love hockey books, period. If you don’t like them don’t let this sway you from reading it. It’s not a technical know how about the game. It’s about the people who play it and the fact that behind the mask is a person who has all the same things to deal with as you do.Avon Gale brings beauty and love to a rough and tough game! This is an outstanding book!

I can barely tell the difference between football and basketball, and the limited knowledge I have of hockey was learned from watching The Mighty Ducks as a kid. But after reading Avon Gale's Let the Wrong Light In, and following up with this one, I can honestly say that I am a fan of Avon Gale. This is lighter and sweeter than Let the Wrong Light In, despite the fact that the characters get into a fist fight when they first meet. Lane is adorably clueless, polite to a fault, and has the kind of nonstop talking that can make a character lovable or incredibly annoying. Lane was absolutely lovable, no doubt about it. Jared was also very sweet, someone who'd been hurt before and carried that pain around with him for so long that he'd forgotten what it felt like not to be miserable. And ZOE! I want to read more books about Zoe, and I love that once again Ms. Gale has characters who are bisexual.Despite my dislike and ignorance of sports in general, I had no problem following what was happening and even silently cheering along the game. Breakaway is another 5 star read for me, and if hockey players would actually make out after punching each other on the ice I think I would move to Canada faster than you could say aboot. Until then, I look forward to the next book in the Scoring Chances series.ARC provided by the author for an honest review

Greta Waltz owns the Tooth & Claw Saloon, Rustvale’s only wolf shifter bar, and she doesn’t take crap from anyone. When a couple of sexy newcomers shift and get into a fight with a regular inside the bar, Greta doesn’t even hesitate to scruff them and boot them into the street. Sure, she’d rather be touching them somewhere else, but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. Recovering nerd Elliott Whiting just moved back home, and brought his mate Shane along with him. Their very first day in town, Shane gets into a bar fight - and the most beautiful bartender he’s ever seen tosses him out of her bar. Ever since, neither of them can stop thinking about the curvy, fiery wolf. Could she be the only to finally complete their triad? It doesn’t take long for Elliott’s past as a dorky, bullied kid to resurface, and when it does, Shane can barely control his temper. At the same time, Greta’s dad - the pack’s alpha - makes his expectations for her perfectly clear, and they don’t involve running a business or Greta staying independent. Can Greta defy her pack’s expectations and find love on her terms? Or will the pack and the past get in the way of this fated menage? Running With Wolves is a standalone novella, with a feisty, independent heroine, two shifters who’ll do anything for her, and a menage scene that will leave you gasping for more!

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Oh, my God, this is amazing. 5 GOLD WOLVES By Cherri-Anne Boitson Greta, you’re so correct!! YIP, YIP, WOOF! Did I get that right? My Wolf-speak is a little Rustvale. tee hee As I started to say... What an ABSO-FURRY-LUTELY HOWL of a story!! It holds all of that trademark Roxie-esque that I love in her books - humor, love, friends, family, enemies, touching moments, WTF moments - as well as some extra wolfish humor & wit. Like this one - "I wish I had a better filter, she thought. I guess I could always think before I speak, but I just never remember." bwaahaahaaha So true!! I will admit to being a little nervous about leaving the Bears behind (and what fi-i-i-n-e behinds they had!), but Roxie's Wolves are pretty smokin' hot, if I do say so myself! And I do, oh lordy do I ever! Since I lived this story with & as Greta, we can both agree to just how hot they are! "If I wrote home about you now, it would just be erotica, Greta thought." naughty grin Shane and Elliott drew me in from the very start! I love how close they are, concerned about each other, trying to behave so as not to cause problems for the other, but at the same time not losing themselves either. Adding Greta to the mix was SUGARIFIC! She PAWFECTLY fit in with them and couldn't have ever picked better mates no matter how hard she looked, or for how long. The fact that they would fight Tooth & Claw for each other was the cheesecake after a FURRIFIC home-cooked meal. I love how Roxie gave her wolves a story (and series) completely all their own! Yes, they do reside in Cascadia as do all of those yummy bears & their mates that we all know & love, and yes, they are triads too, but that is where the similarities end. The Wolves stories are each their own WOLFTASTIC masterpieces that feel fresh, exciting, unpredictable and IMPAWSSIBLE to put down! Not that I tried, so just guessing there. :) With her phenomenal talent, Roxie has once again created a FANGTABULOUS story that had me cursing when I reached my two most hated words in any book - The End!! So I went back and read it again! Then I could stay and hang with my new friends for a little longer. But man! Are they ever stuck in a rut! Everything just kept happening in the exact same way each time! LOL I love, Love, LOVE this SHIFTACULAR world that Roxie lets me play, live & find my mates in, both with and as her characters, time and time again! After each story, I think that it was my favorite, then the next book comes along and IT becomes my favorite! sigh What a glorious problem to have!

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. wolf triads! By Tanja yay more roxie noir and more of her triad matings! i loved the bear ones so i had high expectations for the wolves. i'm glad i was not disappointed!loved it! loved it! loved!happy to run her own bar, be the boss over her own time, paid her own car, greta is a bit of a wild child. not really a child no more, she's still single at the age of 32, much to the chagrin of her parents, the alpha pair of the local pack. there isn't a time when either of her parents try to set her up with possible mates but she loves her freedom more then the prospect of having to others wanting her attention.that is until former local Elliot and his mate, Shane, walk into her bar. there is some interest but before things can go any further one of them ends up in a bit of a fight with another shifter. greta knows a fight can draw in a crowd and once in a while is fine but she rather have no fights at all.what will she do with them?what will her parents do?she had to admit that Elliot had changed a lot since he was a teenager and shane was his opposite. could it be?i said it before and i'll say it again : i loved it!free copy given in exchange for an honest review

By Sunnyles I have read several of Roxie Noir's books and I am not disappointed. Greta is the kind of strong, independant woman who doesn't NEED a man to define her or to prove her worth. Her parents and most of the pack may not realize this, but Elliott and Shane do. Elliott grew up here and left to go to college. Shane is his mate. He grew up without a pack in lone family of shifters in Oregon. They are back for Elliott's new job and maybe to join his old pack. One of Elliott's old school bullies has set his nasty sights on Greta and starts trouble the first night he sees Elliott and Shane out at Greta's bar. Zeke has decided that Greta belongs to him, no matter how much she tells him no way in hell. I loved the way Greta acts so strong, but we get to see her soft side. I wanna be like her when I grow up. I look forward to future escapades with the Rustyvale pack. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
