The UnknownWorld is reeling from change. Bethany Anne has started to make a difference in the first week of being 'awake'. Now, America has been losing good men since their teams don't have a Vampire to help them and Frank is hoping Bethany Anne can, and will, help. Further, the American Pack Council is having internal problems with their own "young and dumb" Were's who want to ignore Michael's strictures. With no one seeing Michael, the fear of the 'Boogeyman' is starting to recede. That's ok with Bethany Anne, it means she will personally deliver the message there is a new vampire in town. Immediately following the story of Bethany Anne from 'Death Becomes Her', Queen Bitch rides a rollercoaster of action and a heavy dose of creative cussing. Bethany Anne starts to get a team in place to help her affect change. Because, whether the UnknownWorld wants it or not, change is coming. *Ver 1.10 - modified 11/28/2015 with copyedit corrections. **NOTE: Version 1.20 (Edited by James Coyle) out now! By Roiet The problem with Mary Sue books like this is that they are so enthusiastically written that it takes a while for conscious thought to seep through the cracks until one realizes that the book isn't very good. I made it through the first two, and I'm done. The author plans at least thirteen books in this series, and I won't be there for the ride. The tragedy of this series is that it had potential - a moderately interesting storyline, decent action, but was squandered through some underwhelming writing, poor editing, and completely flat characters. So - in the first book, Bethany Anne (I'm surprised he didn't just name her "Mary Sue," that's about as close as you can get without doing so) is an attractive, highly skilled, intensely honorable daughter of a high-ranking military officer and the obligatory dead mother. She also suffers from an incurable PLOT DEVICE that will kill her in six months, because there is no gray in this series AT ALL and of course, the vampire who turns her will only choose people who are near death because honor. This he holds to, even though he has absolutely no compunctions about killing anyone else, including people who give him lip. Bethany Sue accepts the offer to become the vampire - OF COURSE, because the series would end much more quickly, and is transformed into a super vampire - becoming taller, hotter, and ridiculously invulnerable. How ridiculously invulnerable? Someone blows a large hole through her torso and she is mildly inconvenienced. In the second book, her foul mouth, astounding hotness, and unmatchable prowess at combat endears herself to the military bros who become her team (and all of them are totally "Special Forces Stu,") and begins to put herself in charge of all the vampires and werewolves. That's where we stop . . . and that's where I get off.Sometimes I feel bad, giving less than stellar reviews to books like this. There really is so much enthusiasm that it is almost contagious. But when I step back, try to identify nuances in the book (there are none), three-dimensional characters (also none), genuine conflict (none), flaws that might make the main character interesting (none) and anything that might make this book of more than passing value (also none), and I realize that someone's got to point out that not only does the emperor have no clothes, but the cut is very unflattering.Takeaway: If you are looking for a vampire-werewolf-special force novel, try the Monster Hunter series. If you are looking for a better-written Mary Sue novel, read the Ell Donsaii things that Dahmers churns out. And if you are the writer, you have some potential and could do much better.

I'm already on book three and I started reading them today. The negatives: sometimes knowing which character is talking; happens a lot in the first book but evens out in the second, still happens but not as much. Sometimes inserts the wrong character name while they are talking or thinking. I do like that this is from an multiple characters point of view, but it can be difficult occasionally to follow because the transition is not always seamless. The grammar is ok but not perfect but did not take away from the story. The PROS: love the story line, love that is a continuation with lots of laughs and action. I'm looking forward to see where the author is going with this. I'm stopping now to read the third book, but because I'm digging this author I wanted to send a shout out!Update: I have read books 3 & 4 and a lot of the issues I had with the first two books have been addressed. 3 & 4 is so much smoother to follow. I am seriously enjoying this story. I about to start on book 5 and hope to finish before bed tonight, so this does not follow me to work tomorrow lol!

Smart authors often predict the future with uncanny accuracy. (Michael is using science fiction to mimic what is happening in the world. Rather brilliant.)Now Here's The IMPORTANT THING about this book series by Michael Anderle. VERY ENJOYABLE. The Characters Interact and Talk in a way I've not seen very often. Except in novels by award winning writers.Michael is a Great Story teller. Lousy speller. (Spell check is NOT your friend.) Fantastic Story and Character builder. (The spelling can be fixed. Only 1 in a million can Write like this.)Michael makes you want to read more. And he writes fast. Plus you Root for the main Character.Who has been given a STAR WARS Size problem to deal with.Good books make you forget where you are.Skip meals.YOU KNOW What I mean.Michael - KEEP UP the good work. There aren't enough writers who can THINK up plots and ideasthat Surprise the reader. Very much Appreciated! Glenn

‘…expert Davies effectively captures London of a later era in this taut page-turner’ – Kirkus Reviews 1895, London. Sherlock Holmes is between cases, his great mind unstimulated. But not for long. A Colonel Sapt of the Ruritanian Court journeys to England on a secret mission to save the country from anarchy. His mission is to engage the services of Rudolf Rassendyll once more to impersonate the King while the monarch recovers from a serious illness. But Rassendyll has mysteriously disappeared. In desperation, Sapt consults Sherlock Holmes who, with his faithful companion Watson, travels to the Kingdom of Ruritania in an effort to thwart the plans of the scheming Rupert of Hentzau in his bid for the throne. Written with pace and vigour, Sherlock Holmes and the Hentzau Affair is a wonderful blend of detective story and rousing adventure yarn. It is an exciting fusion of a Sherlock Holmes mystery with the Ruritanian world of intrigue and skulduggery of Anthony Hope's novel The Prisoner of Zenda .

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Riviting and entertaining By Steve Browne First of all, this book is deceptively thin (note 128 pages in publisher's description). However, it is set in more traditional smaller type without empty filler spaces, so my impression after reading is one of a full and satisfying novel. Having read many Holmes re-creations, I find the most unique aspect here is Dr. Watson's active participation and even excitement at joining the "game afoot"; we often wonder about the relationship between Holmes and Watson, and why Watson would care to pursue it if he were treated as an eternal ingénue in the shadow of Holmes' genius. None of that here. There are a few flaws. Without creating spoilers, I find a few of the introductory deductions obvious. And, later, both Holmes and Watson completely miss a conclusion they should have guessed. But the basic premise of the story is most enjoyable and makes one wonder about the truth of "history."

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. True to the Canonical View By Vizier This is an extremely well written, enjoyable pastiche. Mr. Davies shows that he is familiar with all the quirks and traits of both Holmes and Watson as revealed in the Canon. And, he provides us with an exciting story as well. Those familiar with "The Prisoner of Zenda" will be more than happy with this slender volume. And for those who carp about tiny deviations from Doyle's writing, relax. No one can really compete with the original Holmes stories. But when you come across a really good one you should feel pleased to once again know that "the game is afoot".

6 of 8 people found the following review helpful. it was bound to be, i suppose By Daniel Barak having read mr.davies's excellent "the tangled skien", possibly the best holmes-dracula treatment yet created, i was intrigued some time ago by the possibility of a "holmes in zenda" story, which, as readers may recall, was briefly suggested in a footnote in "the seven per-cent solution" by nicholas meyer. it would seem that anybody who is anybody in both literary or realistic universes will cross paths with sherlock holmes. therein lies the problem: how to make holmes an integral part of another author's creation or historic circumstances while true to the vision of both conan doyle and the "crossed-over author"(pun intended|)? the solution would be to study carefully both the sherlockian cannon and the other author's work. yes, i repeat: do your homework! even authors who wish to tell us that in their version of the universe, in which sherlock holmes tracked dracula to baskerville manor, should learn their doyle and stoker! now, i mention this speciphic case because mr. davies himself has in "the tangled skein" proven himself capable of such careful study, thus earning accolades from the late peter cushing for the book.not so with the hentzau affair: sir anthony hope's two ruritania books, were written as a homage to alexander dumas, and are not short of intrigues and counter-intrigues to gladden the heart of detectives. i am not surprised to discover in this book direct reference, sadly brief, to "scandal in bohemia" as a case in point. however what we have here is a novel that seemes to touch all too briefly on incidents from both hope and conan doyle, rather than try to impose holmes on existing characters. the plot-drive of both ruritanian novels is such that the insertion of holmes is difficult in itself: the plot has sufficient drive without a detective to make much of a contribution, and i can understand the difficulty of that task, yet the attempt to recreate the plot of "prisoner of zenda" around holmes, is superficial in this case. i hoped for a story that could either be "sandwiched" between the ruritania novels and the holmes cannon, or, for watson's "true story behind the official version" which would have taken place near the end of "rupert of hentzau" and would have contained enough material for revelations coverable by a detective of holmes skills simply by studying the original hope books, but i'm not telling any more. still, since i've searched long for this book, and know that davies has perfected his craft considerably, it's four points.

Because you, being your best you, and living your best life, matters!

The Excellence Habit is biography of an idea, and the idea is simple. The main source of success is excellence, and excellence depends more on our internal circumstances. Grit, determination, and the discipline to put in the hard work as a matter of habit, and not a matter of need, are crucial. The Excellence Habit is a reminder that we are the owners of our success. There are no magic formulas, shortcuts, or secret sauce. The 7-rules, or 3 steps, or 12 laws that promise to change our lives - they won’t help, unless we do the work. We will learn from many, yet the most important steps, we need to take on our own. Over the course of our adult life, it is always us, who have the most power. We will not always be in control and nobody is. But we can choose to maximize our effect on this planet, on our loved ones and on our personal fulfillment by building an Excellence Habit. The Excellence Habit also examines the distinction between success and excellence. Success is achieving high goals. Excellence is doing the right thing, even when not driving towards any goal. It is a small mindset shift, which will produce big results. Excellence can and will lead to success. Success, on the other hand, can be the biggest enemy of excellence. More often than not success is measured in social influence, recognition and wealth. For those practicing it faithfully - Excellence is its own biggest reward!

The Excellence Habit - How Small Changes In Our Mindset Can Make A Big Difference In Our Lives: For All Who Feel Stuck, by Vlad Zachary

Review "What Vlad calls the "excellence habit" may seem an easy change of attitude but is in fact a lifelong process. Some people are born with this gift but most can acquire it at any stage of their lives and following previous failures. This is the attitude and habit of those who are smart and brave enough to strive for the best and truly desire a fulfilling life." Vess G. "I highly recommend The Excellence Habit. I found the book to be very engaging and thought provoking. The author's ability to use real life examples to show the points he is trying to make and cross reference relevant academic research is exemplary. This is a great book that will certainly be very helpful for anyone wanting to increase their personal and professional performance." Juan Montoya "I would recommend this insightful book to anyone embarking on a new endeavor, starting a new job, wanting to start a new business, or about to make a big change in his or her life. Reading this book will help you take an honest look at yourself and teach you to mindfully make simple changes that can impact the outcome of your work in a big way." Rick Baggio "We all need help breaking bad habits and forming good ones. Vlad eloquently takes us on a journey beneath the iceberg and onto reality so we can make excellence a Habit. Great read, thoroughly recommend it." Michael Potts "What a great book! I love Amy Cuddy's story about overcoming obstacles and never giving up. What gets me motivated is reading about what someone went through to overcome tough times. There are some amazing examples. This book stays in my Kindle!" Shantee' Parks

This book has a positive tone and provides inspiration to readers. I recommend it to young professionals and everyone in need for motivation. Using down-to-earth examples, the author showcases excellence and success stories and discussions. With a friendly tone, the author suggests that each situation can end up in a success story and emphasizes these thoughts by providing real life exemplars. As a result, the concepts in this book can be easily applied to one's own life or can be used to help others see the light at the end of the tunnel.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. I really enjoyed this book By William Courter I really enjoyed this book. It really shows how all of us need to make a small mental shift in our focus, looking at the little things that are so important and ignoring societal pressures for specific results. It clarifies the difference between excellence and success, and it demonstrates how we should aim for excellence through the recommended small changes. This book will make you re-examine your own behaviors. It will, I think, improve the quality of your life. It was nicely written and well organized. In my opinion, it was very helpful for anyone and everyone.
