About the Author Mike is an IT Consultant who lives in Preston, UK with his wife and twin daughters. His first novel, Message Bearer, is the first in his urban fantasy series, The Auran Chronicles, the sequel to which is due out in the first half of 2016. As well as Message Bearer, Mike has also produced several short stories over a period of many years, some of which were fortunate enough to be selected for publication. Sadly, a bad experience with a faulty hard drive and an evil usb stick sent many of these to digital oblivion, putting him off writing for a prolonged period. Those stories that could be salvaged, as well as more recent efforts can be found on Amazon, with Mirror Man being a particular favourite. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. An Exciting Urban Fantasy with a full and rich mythology By Dan Davis The most impressive thing about this book is the rich mythology. Note: There could be some minor spoilers to follow about the setting but I will not reveal the plot or explain the terms I use.After the exciting, intriguing opening, you get hints of the depth behind the unfolding narrative. The shadow creatures possessing people are Sheol, the trained warriors battling them are the Brotherhood and others, they are using their "sense" to interact with The Weave and challenge the "Consensus". You get hints about the Aware, Latents, the Unaware, the Observers. Magi and Runic Script. It was immediately obvious that the author had a fully realized mythology for the reader to uncover through the plot. The real-world setting is northern England, which is wonderful because most UK-set urban fantasy takes place in London and this was a refreshing change. But there is an entire universe behind this one, and in fact there are multiple universes with a rich history and the vast scope and ambition is pretty astonishing. The impressive thing is that everything fits together perfectly.Our route into this world is Seb, a young guy with a latent gift who may or may not learn to use his power and his is the classic hero's journey. But this is a multi character narrative and we get interwoven chapters from the perspective of Caleb, Sylph, Cade and Marek who each have their own roles, objectives and secrets. It's unclear at times who are the good guys and who you should be cheering on.Another thing I really liked was the action. It was all really well described, not too long or too short and it was exciting and very visual. I am left with a lot of great images from the story and I feel like most of them are from the action scenes. There is magic combined with hand to hand combat, throwing knifes, gun fights and all kinds of awesome mental abilities.All in all a good book and I can't wait for the next in the series.

By Amazon Customer Good concept, a bit overwhelmed by a lackluster explanation of what the author meant.The book lacks editing. Seriously, if there is anyone who claimed to edit this book, they should be beaten with a high school grammar text until some of it sinks in. I don't think the book was even given a basic spell check. It's a bit distracting.I expect that this author will become MUCH more enjoyable once a decent edit happens.

He seems to be drawn to many places. The most recent place he was drawn to changed his life forever. He never thought that he would find this much out about the world, let alone himself. He doesn't know how to handle it at first, but then things take a huge change when he learns to control an unexpected power that he can channel.I was caught up in this book. This book has so much action, that I found myself fighting sleep night after night as I read on. When I gave in to going to bed I found myself thinking about the book, and wondering what would happen next. I fell asleep thinking about the book, and woke up thinking that I couldn't wait till the time came when I could pick up the book again, after other life issues were taken care of course. It is not often that this happens with a book. Only a book that I am so thrilled to read could cause this reaction out of me. I also found myself talking to my boyfriend about the book. He is not a reader, but still humored me, because he knows that reading makes me happy. I happy to declare this book as a favorite of mine.If you are looking for an action packed book that is high fantasy, and has a good load of paranormal excitement thrown in then give this book a shot, because chances are you will not regret reading this one. That is how thrilling this book is. Do not miss out!
