Fun coloring book for Harry Potter Fans but has some issues which effect coloring – printed on both sides of page By iiiireader [[VIDEOID:baef00871261c5a4efe8bb9b778966cd]]Attached to this review will be a silent flip-through of the entire coloring book so you can make an informed decision as to whether or not it will work for you.Rather than discuss how this is like or different from the books and/or movie series except to note that the iconic images seem to be taken primarily from the movie, I will discuss only how I feel about it as an adult coloring book.The book is illustrated by a variety of artists and it shows. Some of the designs are simply drawn and some are complex, a few with small intricate details that may be difficult to color. I am really glad that they did not over draw the faces with too much detail as I will be able to add my own blending (this was a problem with the recent Sherlock coloring book.) Some of the designs are quite heavy on black spaces – something I would have preferred to put in myself. Otherwise, the designs are well done artistically. They have included glossy pages at the end of the book – perhaps so we can know what colors are to be used or simply as a fun addition to the book.The book is printed on both sides of off-white heavyweight and non-perforated paper. A good number of the designs are printed across two pages and merge into the bind (which is glued rather than sewn.) I did a count and this is what I came up with: 40 one page designs, 4 of which are “wallpaper” repeating patterns; 19 designs spread across two pages – 5 of which are wallpaper style designs. Unfortunately, a good many of the iconic scenes were in the ones that were spread across two sheets. I was able to bend the binding enough to get the book to lay flat and found that the pages lines up very well and I didn't lose any of the picture into the binding itself.What was weird for me is the smell of the book. I can only think that it is the ink and/or the paper but I had several individuals smell it and we all said it was reminiscent of mildew. I've bought inexpensive paperback books in the past with the same odor and I have never been able to figure out what it is. It is not mildew but it kind of smells like it. The smell is present inside and also on the cover. If you are sensitive to scent, you may want to take this into consideration.I tested my coloring tools: all markers bleed through though Staedler triplus fineliners merely left a shadow of color rather than full ink – but you could tell what the color was from the back of the page. Gel pens did not leak through but again, there was a very light shadow. The paper did well with various coloring pencils.In the end, the fact that ink could leak through and the pages were printed doubled sided was enough for me to take away a point. It forces me into coloring pencils of losing part of the book. I wish the book had perforated paper but I don't detract for that. The odor – well, that may be only a few books, so again, I won't take away for that but do check to see if yours has a similar smell.

Completely and utterly disappointed with the artistic style of the ink drawings By Beth - I Sniff Books I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Harry Potter stories so, like everyone else on the planet, I got excited when I learned that Scholastic Books was going to be releasing a new Harry Potter coloring book. For sure, there have been other Harry Potter coloring books, but lately there seems to be a resurgence in all things Harry Potter. There are books that take you behind-the-films such as Harry Potter Film Wizardry and Harry Potter: Magical Places from the Films: Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, and Beyond. And, earlier this month, the gorgeous illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: The Illustrated Edition (Harry Potter, Book 1) was released. For me, this resurgence is terribly exciting because I came to read (and fall in love) with the series well after the last book was published and thus missed out on the release of and excitement for all sorts of Harry Potter “things.”Anyway. Back to the coloring book! I was really excited that I would be able to re-visit the wizarding world via coloring. Especially since the blurb on the back cover promised:“…explorations of Hogwarts Castle, the Forbidden Forest, and much more…[and] pages of magical creatures and iconic scenes from the films…as well as some of the marvelous props used in the movies…”However, once the coloring book arrived in my hands my excitement turned quickly to disappointment. I had visions of all sorts of things I hoped I would be able to color: the Hogwarts Express; a Hogwarts Castle corridor with magical portraits and statues; The Great Hall; the Hogwarts Library; a classroom setting; school supplies; a textbook page; or even storefronts (or interiors of shops) from Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade. None of these make an appearance in the coloring book.Also, I’m not sure how to describe the artistic style of the ink drawings other than to say bluntly that I do not like it at all — and oh how it hurts my Harry Potter fangirl heart to say that. I had high expectations for this coloring book and was very much let down — much more so by the artistic style than what I had hoped to be able to color.Adult coloring books are super hot right now, and while I ♥ Harry Potter, maybe this brand new Harry Potter coloring book is just too much of a good thing. Is there such a thing as too much Harry Potter merchandise? Either way, Scholastic Books plans to release at least three more Harry Potter themed coloring books in 2016: Harry Potter Creatures Coloring Book (January 2016), Harry Potter Magical Places & Characters Coloring Book (March 2016), and Harry Potter Artifacts Coloring Book (June 2016).Part of me wonders if I’m going to the be the only one who is completely and utterly disappointed with this coloring book.Disclosure: I received a complimentary review copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. One looks like a 3 year old drew it and the other is a double page of dancing, nipple pierced trolls! What!?! There's main characters that don't even have double pages but these ridiculous trolls do?

She was small, round,  and dumpy. The fringed leather jacket probably made her seem rounder,  but she’d never been a looker.  She reminded  Mr. Rollins of an overripe peach, and the peach was clearly afraid. A steady rain fell from the overcast night. The dingy, one-bedroom bungalow west of Echo Park reeked of bleach and ammonia, but the windows  were closed, the shades were  down, and the doors were locked. A single yellow twenty-five-watt lamp provided the only light. The chemical smell gave Mr. Rollins  a headache, but he could not open the windows. They were screwed shut. Rollins wasn’t his real name, but the man and the woman probably weren’t using their true names, either. Amy and Charles. Amy hadn’t  said three words since they arrived. Charles did the talking and Charles was getting impatient.“How long does this take?” The chemist’s answer was resentful. “Two minutes,  dude. Relax. Science takes time.” The chemist was a juiced-up, sleeved-out rock pile hunched over the coffee table. A hiker’s LED headlamp blazed on his forehead. He was heating the contents of a glass jar with a small torch while watching two meters  that looked like swollen  TV remotes. Rollins had found him cooking  meth  eight years ago and used him often. Charles  was a trim man in his forties with neat brown hair and the tight build of a tennis player. Mr. Rollins had made three buys off Charles in the past year, and all had gone well. This was why Mr. Rollins let him bring the woman,  only now, seeing her, Rollins wondered why she wanted to come. She damned near pissed herself when Rol- lins searched her and made them put on the gloves. He made everyone who entered the house wear vinyl gloves. Rollins did not allow food or drinks. No one could chew gum or smoke cigarettes. The list was pretty long. Mr. Rollins had rules. He smiled as he adjusted  his gloves. “They make your hands sweat, don’t they, Amy? I know it’s a pain, but we’re almost finished.” Charles answered for her. “She’s fine. Tell your man to finish up so we can get out of here.” The chemist mumbled without looking up. “Fuck off.” Rollins smiled at Amy again and glanced at the round plastic container beside the chemist. It was filled with a material that looked like yogurt and felt like modeling clay. “Where’d you get this?” Charles stepped on her answer again. “I told you where we got it.” Rollins considered pushing his pistol up Charles’s ass and popping a cap, but he did not let his feelings show. “I’m just making conversation. Amy seems nervous.” Charles glanced at Amy. “She’s fine.” Amy’s voice was whisper-soft when she finally  spoke. “I made it.” The chemist snorted. “Yeah. Right.” Then the chemist sat up and gazed at Rollins. “Whoever made it did a righteous job. It’s the real deal, brother.” Charles crossed his arms. Smug. “You see?” Rollins was impressed. The material in the Tupperware was not easy to come by. Charles claimed the woman had two hundred kilo- grams. “What about tags?” The chemist turned off the torch and unplugged the meters. “Ethylene test shows zero. I’ll know parts per million when I run a sample at home, but the stuff is clean, bro. No tags. Untraceable.” Rollins thanked the chemist, who packed his equipment into a green backpack and let himself out through the kitchen. A light win- ter shower pattered the roof. Charles said, “So now what? Are we in business?” Rollins  sealed the lid on the Tupperware. “The buyer will test it himself. If his results are the same, we’re golden.” Amy spoke again and this time she sounded anxious. “I’ll make more for the right buyer. I can make all they want.” Charles took her arm, trying to turn her away.“Let’s see their money first.” Amy did not move. “I have to meet them, you know. That’s a requirement.” “Not now.” Charles steered her toward the front door like a shopping  cart. Rollins quickly stopped them. “Back door, Charles. Never the front.” Charles swung  the woman around and aimed her toward  the kitchen. After insisting she come, Charles couldn’t get her out of the house fast enough. Rollins opened the back door and asked for their gloves. He gave Amy a gentle smile. “Buyers don’t like to be met, but they’ll make an exception for you, Amy. I promise.” She seemed ready to cry, but Charles pulled her out and they dis- appeared into the rain. Rollins locked the kitchen door and hurried  to the front door, where he peered through  a peephole. When Charles and Amy reached the street, he returned to the kitchen and opened the back door to air the place out. The tiny backyard was dark and hidden from neighbors by overgrown bushes and a sprawling  avocado tree. Rollins stood in the door breathing air that didn’t stink of ammo- nia and called his buyer. “Good news.” A coded way of saying the tests were positive. “Very good. I will send someone.” “Tonight.” “Yes. Now.” “You have the other things here, too. I’ve told you for a week to come get this stuff.”“I am sending someone.” “I want it gone. All of it.” “He will take it.” Rollins put the Tupperware in the bedroom with the other things and returned to the kitchen. He still wore his gloves and would wear them until he left. He took a one-liter spray bottle from beneath the sink and sprayed bleach on the kitchen counters and floor and door. He sprayed the coffee table where the chemist had done his work and the stool on which the chemist had sat. He sprayed the living room floor and the doorjamb between the kitchen and living room. Rollins believed the bleach would destroy the enzymes and oils left in fingerprints or spit and erase DNA evidence. He wasn’t convinced this was true, but it seemed sensible, so he bleached out the house whenever he used it. When Mr. Rollins acquired the house, he made several changes to better serve his needs, like screwing shut the windows and installing peepholes. Nothing  fancy, nothing  expensive, and nothing  to attract the neighbors’ attention, none of whom knew him, had met him or, hopefully, seen him.  Rollins did only enough maintenance  to prevent the house from becoming an eyesore. He let people stay from time to time, never anyone he personally knew and only long enough so the neighbors would think the house was a rental.  Mr. Rollins had not built a fortress when he acquired the house, just a place of relative safety from which to do his crime. Rollins put away the bleach, returned  to the living room, and turned off the lamp. He sat in the darkness, nose burning  as he lis- tened to the rain. 9:42 p.m. 2142 hours. 1742 Zulu Time. Mr. Rollins hated to wait, but there was big money at stake if Charles and Amy were real. Rollins wondered if Charles beat her. He seemed like the type.  She seemed like the type, too. Rollins’s older sister married  a man who abused her for years until  Rollins  killed  him. Rollins checked the time again. 9:51. Rollins put his pistol on the couch. He rested his hand on the gun, checked the time, and closed his eyes. 9:53. The rain stopped. 10:14. Someone knocked at the front door. Rollins jerked to his feet and moved quickly into the kitchen. The buyer’s man would  never use the front door. That was a rule. Every- one used the back. Rollins quietly  closed and locked the kitchen door as knocking came from the front. Knock knock knock. Rollins slipped off his shoes and hurried  to the front. Knock knock knock. Mr. Rollins peered through  the peephole and saw an adult male in a dark rain shell. The hood was back and the unzipped shell exposed a loud patterned shirt. Average height, Anglo, dark hair. The man pressed the bell, but the bell didn’t work, so he knocked again. Rollins  held his pistol  close as he watched. The man waited a few seconds and finally  walked  away. Rollins watched for another two minutes. Cars passed and a cou- ple went by huddled beneath an umbrella even though  the rain no longer fell. The world appeared normal,  but a siren wailed in the dis- tance. Rollins had a bad feeling.10:32. Rollins phoned the buyer again. “The person you sent, he knows to go to the back?” “Yes. Of course. He has been there before.” “If you sent someone, he didn’t show.” “Hold on. I will find out.” A second siren was screaming. Closer. The man’s voice returned. “He should have been there. This is not right.” “I’m jammed up here, man. I want to leave.” “Bring the material to me. Not here. Someone will meet you by MacArthur Park, there on the northeast corner.” Rollins felt a flash of anger, but kept his voice cool. Rollins had made a fortune  off this man and stood to make more. “You know the rules, Eli. I’m not driving around with your things in my car. Come get this crap.” Rollins was pocketing his phone when he heard a wet crunch in the yard and pounding on the back door. Rollins hurried to the kitchen,  checked the peephole, and saw a face he recognized. Carlos, Caesar, something  like that. His eyes were bright and he was breathing hard when Rollins opened the door. Rollins scratched gloves from his pocket. “Put on the gloves, you idiot.” Carlos ignored the gloves and ran to the living room, trailing mud and grass. He peeked out the nearest window,  bare fingers touching the shade. A helicopter passed overhead  so low the little house shook. “Fuck your gloves. You hear that? The police are on me, bro. Ain’t this fuckin’ cool? I smoked their blue ass!” The helicopter rumbled away, but circled the area. Rollins felt a burst  of fear. Thoughts of mud, grass, and fingerprints on the shade vanished. He touched  aside the shade and saw a blazing searchlight sweep the next street. “You brought the police.” Carlos turned away, laughing. “I lost them, bro. I could be anywhere.” Rollins felt as if his head were filling with angry maggots. The helicopter orbited overhead, lighting up the shades. The chop of the rotor moved away and slowly circled. “How the fuck did this happen?” “They made my face. I got warrants, y’know? Relax.” Carlos flopped onto the couch, giggling, wired on adrenaline and chemicals. His muddy  shoes were on the cushions. “They don’t know where I am. They gonna roll over us and keep right on rollin’.” Rollins  gathered his thoughts. The house  was now lost. The goods in the bedroom were history. The mud and the grass no longer mattered. Rollins could not allow himself to be found here with the material in the bedroom and this giggling idiot on the couch. Rollins accepted these facts and the acceptance brought  calm. The pistol was no good to him now. Rollins returned to the cabi- net where he kept the bleach and took out a rusted,  fourteen-inch pipe wrench. The wrench easily weighed three or four pounds. Carlos was still stretched on the couch when Mr. Rollins went back to the living room. He strode directly to Carlos without  saying a word and brought the wrench down hard. He felt the head go on the first blow, but gave it two more. Rollins dropped the wrench and put on a fresh  pair of gloves. He pressed the pistol into Carlos’s hands, both hands so it would look like Carlos had handled the gun, and dropped it beside the wrench. If Rollins was picked up, he did not want a gun in his possession.The helicopter  passed again. The shades flashed  into blinding white rectangles and once more filled with black. Rollins trotted to the front door and looked through the peep- hole. A police officer  passed on the sidewalk  and another  spoke with people across the street. Rollins  closed his eyes. He took slow, mea- sured  breaths  as he counted to one hundred. He put his eye to the peephole again. The policemen were gone. Rollins returned to the kitchen. He wore a dark sport coat and slacks. There would be blood splatter, but the blood would be difficult to see at night on the dark fabric. He had a nylon rain shell, but de- cided not to put it on. The sport coat was better. The police were looking for a young Latin guy in a black T-shirt,  not an older, well- dressed Anglo.  His car was several blocks away. If Rollins could get away from the house and beyond the police perimeter, he still might survive. The light returned and slid away again. Rollins moved in the moment of darkness. He opened the kitchen door, peeled off his gloves, and stepped out. A cop and a German shepherd were in the backyard. The dog was a deep-chested brute with angry eyes and fangs like daggers. The cop shouted as the dog charged.

By tom4416 I'm a huge and long time Robert Crais fan and so hold him to an extremely high standard and this book, frankly, fell short of that which he is capable. There is a whole lot less personality to Elvis and Pike - Pike is almost an afterthought at times and Cole's sense of humor has mostly vanished. The story line at times felt disjointed while at the same time having a very predictable conclusion.If this was some novel by a first timer, it would rank much higher but I've come to expect the very best from a pro like Crais and this just wasn't it. Some reviewers seem determined to summarize the entire book for you (book report versus book review) so no sense in re-examining the plot and story lines other than to save they were not all that creative. Suffice it to say that a great deal of this book was devoted to incorporating Maggie and Scott into the cast of characters that we'll likely see in future efforts. Not all bad as they insight into the dog was interesting but not that much different than when Maggie was first introduced in a previous novel.As a reader, I wonder if Crais is trying to establish a platform from which to launch additional offshoots of these characters, much like he has done with the standalone Pike stories.

Lesley Elvis Cole stepped in the middle of a huge problem when he took on Meryl Lawrence as a client. What she wanted was for Cole to find where her missing friend and co-worker had gone after she embezzled a whole lot of money from the company they work for. Meryl thinks Amy Breslyn took the money because she met a man and he talked her into doing it. She wants Cole to find the identity of the man which will lead to the whereabouts of Amy. Elvis has worked with some squirrely clients before, but Meryl has to be the queen of paranoia. She pays in cash, demands instant meets in parking lots or behind businesses, and never gets out of her car. When Cole gets to the address she has given him where someone lives who might know something about Amy, he ends up almost being shot by a policeman and suspected of withholding evidence from the police about the murdered man found at the address. Wow! This story just goes on to get even more complicated from there.If you haven't read any of the previous books in the series, you might want to know that Cole refers to himself as The World's Greatest Detective. Slightly tongue in cheek, slightly a statement of fact from his perspective. He has an amazing talent for solving the problems clients bring to him. They might not always like what he finds out, but that's what happens when you start turning over rocks. This novel brings in Cole's enigmatic partner in the detective business, Joe Pike, along with their friend Jon Stone, a black ops mercenary working in the deep, dark, back corridors of the government. Add to these wonderful characters the presence here of LAPD K-9 Officer Scott James and his dog Maggie (from a previous Crais novel, Suspect) and you only need the arch-villain to complete the picture. Well, this villain is one of the baddest of the bad! This particular novel features all the twists and turns you expect when everybody has secrets and most of them have made a profession out of fooling people.As I've come to expect from a Robert Crais novel, this one is filled with characters who have been given full dimension by the author and the story is one which changes all the way through depending on what information Pike, Cole, or Stone come up with. The book is presented from the viewpoint of multiple characters, even Maggie the police dog. Don't worry, Maggie's portions make perfect sense while the author inserts interesting information about why dogs make such remarkable partners for police officers. This story was exciting, satisfying, and had an ending which managed to tie up all the loose ends in a believable way. Another great novel from Robert Crais.

29 of 34 people found the following review helpful. disappointing By jd I've read all the Elvis Cole novels and this is easily the weakest one. It felt formulaic, like a 70s tv show. The main characters seem two dimensional. Elvis rarely shows his wit (although other characters note that he thinks he's funny). Pike does and says almost nothing ; he could have been omitted without changing the story. There is no physical action involving either Elvis or Pike.The plot is clever and has a good twist which Elvis figures out but overall a disappointment.

9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful and Compelling By Joel The Changing of the Guard is an example of good historical fiction. The author took a time period that could have been tedious (mainly because we can’t relate) and created a compelling story. Edward Urwin is the central character who moves through childhood to young adulthood during the course of the story while finding out some of the family secrets. The book is written well, as the author made me care about the main character. If you’re a fan of fiction based in a historical time period, you won’t be disappointed by this novel.

Page Engrossing historical fiction that put me in mind of Downton Abbey, though this takes place somewhat earlier. This is a many layered story that shows the different strata of Victorian society and one boy navigates his way through it.Vivid characters and places, striking dialogue and plot turns that kept me guessing. It reminded me of Dickens in places, though the writing has a contemporary feel. I could see this as a television series. I didn't want it to end.

Michelle Davis Ms. Ivy Simoine rarely if ever disappoints her readers with her "pen game" and this time is no exception. I think my family is borderline ready to have me committed for laughing out loud at Jah's antics and the way he expressed himself; CAN SOMEBODY SAY RUDENESS!!! What makes Jah so refreshing is that good, bad, or ugly you know exactly what to expect from him. In books 1 and 2 Jasmine aka Juicy as Jah calls her, irritated my soul. She was weak, spineless, possessed low self-esteem, and as far as common sense she possessed absolutely none. It was great to see her level of growth in part 3. She finally opened her eyes to the goodness in Jah and began to realize how petty and judgemental she had always been towards him overlooking all of Sean's multitude of dirt all while convincing herself that he was all she deserved. The emotional angst that I experienced while reading made me feel as if I had gone through the spin cycle of a washing machine. One moment I was laughing hysterically, the next I was shedding tears so fast I was unable to keep up with them, and the next time I experienced incomparable joy and happiness because of the characters happiness. I was 100% vested in this series from book 1- book 3, I am hoping for a part 4 or at the very least a spinoff of some of the supporting characters. There will never be another Jah and Juicy, so I suggest and strongly recommend that you jump on this literary masterpiece created by Mz. Ivy. You definitely can't go wrong with this purchase.

The love between Jah and Jazmine was so real, you could feel it. I can truly understand how people can fall for fictional characters after reading this book. The author has done it again with the third book from this series. I am truly impressed. This is one of the only other books that I've read this year that was free of error, and followed closely with the previous books. I look forward to reading more by Ivy..... But I know juicy and Nah are unbreakable so please retire them. They are one of a kind

I am still laughing while typing this freaking review****First I need to say all three books were seriously awesome.. HOWEVER I did love this one the most and I shall explain why!This book was extremely freaking funny to me.... Jah and his lack of filter is hilarious and I am not quite sure how anyone can take this dude serious. I mean almost everything that came out this guys mouth was funny. I have never read about a character who just says whatever the hell they are thinking with 58 curse words included.Now on a more serious note.. these book were MESSY, I mean all these twist and turns and shocking revelations I mean it was like "Boom, Boom, Boom" but within all the mess there was a wonderful urban story. again with friends like these... who needs enemies.I also should add.. Jazmin is frustrating as hell... but stick with her "stupid ass as Jah would say" hehe and she is plus size WHOOT WHOOT. I alway root extra cushion characters.. more believable.I have to say I loved the outcome of everyone's story. I am also very glad that the author wrapped each person's drama in the end so you didn't get left with "well I wonder what happened" because it was all nicely wrapped.So YES I shall recommend this book to EVERYBODY. I wasn't sure about walking over to the urban side HOWEVER.. I am glad that I did. For once the amazon and goodread ratings matched the book perfectly.Signing off... I will never think about lil caesar's the same LOL

I really enjoyed reading this most unexpected romance during the battle at Waterloo. It was a terrible time period with so much devastation that a war brings. Many soldiers were left at the mercy of the enemy and died. Then came one woman who felt the need to see if she could help. Lady Grace Carrington can't seem to find anyone until she falls upon a man with the brilliant blue eyes. Sergeant Duncan Mackenzie sees the beautiful woman and instantly is afraid for her. Duncan tells her she must go before something happens to her.But Grace is unafraid and feels protected by this man. She helps him to a medical tent to see to his injuries. Even being stabbed in the arm was a blessing because when he kisses Grace, all his thoughts of war leaves his mind. Grace can't get over the kiss that Duncan bestowed. She feels overwhelmed by what she felt in his arms.Grace is a titled Lady and she knows that Duncan is below her in status. But the woman in her longs to be with this man who turns her crank. Duncan knows that Lady Grace is not for him, but oh the longing for her makes him howl at the moon.Even with so much between them, the friendship they share turns to love. These two will have so much against them, whatever the cost they will be together.I received this ARC title from Net Galley and Love Swept in which I gave an honest review.

Jennifer Haymore A Highlander's Heart began a great series. You could see each of the Knights would make a great hero with their own backgrounds and issues. Highland Heat picks up where Heart ends. Lady Grace steps out of her comfort zone by accompanying her sister the Waterloo. Grace walks through the battlefield looking for anyone who might still be alive and need help. She truly falls on/for Duncan, wounded during the battle. While Claire is taking care of her Major in A Highlander's Heart, Grace is getting to know Duncan. Duncan is one of the perfect heroes, trying to be the gentleman and do what is best for the woman he falls in love with as she cares for him during healing. He sees the real Grace, not the Grace the ton sees. While together away from London, Grace gets to be herself and likes the things she gets to do and be. But, she also realizes life away from London is temporary. This story line is a different from the typical period stories, but super enjoyable.This could be read as a stand alone as enough background is given to make it interesting, but having read Highlander's Heart first, just made it all that much better. Can't wait for the series to continue.Highland Heat is well worth your time to read. I read it in one afternoon. Thank you Net Galley for sharing this sweet love story with me.

She writes these wonderfully, intriguing characters. Full of passion, depth of personality and complexities. Add that to Highlander and a lady and you get, well combustion!! In book two of her Highland Knights Series, Jennifer delivers! Yay!!!Lady Grace Carrington is a supportive sister, she even went with her sister Claire (A Highlander's Heart)to help her save her marriage. Of course that ended them practically in the middle of a war and both were on hand when Waterloo happened. But Claire has begun to salvage her marriage and Grace needs direction, so she's off to help with the wounded. Finding a man on the battlefield, she turns him over and once their eyes meet, pretty much nothing is going to keep them apart. Except..Duncan Mackenzie knows what he wants and he wants Grace Carrington. Only she's a Lady and he's not exactly gentry. He's a highlander through and through but he's not a Laird or anything so fancy he's just a man. But he has been chosen as part of the team of Highland Knights. This is a case of good news bad news. It gives him purpose, a goal but it also keeps him in close proximity to Grace and he's supposed to let her go. Can he do it? Or dare he risk it all?Just a great book! One that makes me smile even while writing this review. It has intensity, believablity and passion. It's a book worth reading as we see men who come home from war and have to learn how to deal with life again. By RS Donnell After finishing the first book in the series, I waited in frustration for the second book, Magic Games. It took me a few hours to read the book, and, I have to admit that, were my children not present and needful of help with homework, dinner, ect., I would not have put the book down until I was finished. With a Master's in English, I've read more than my share of incredible books and quite a few books that I wish I could scald out of my memory. Ella Summers rates among the top of my list of favorite authors of all time. I cannot wait for the next book. Until then, I bought a few books from a different series, also written by Ella Summers, to tide me over for a while as I anxiously await the third book in the Dragon Born Serafina series!

Liking the characters more and more By C Thilmany Serafina is Dragon Born; something that carries an automatic death sentence as the Magic Council has declared that these very powerful individuals are an abomination. So she and her twin sister, both working as mercenaries, have kept their magic hidden. But in order to save lives, she had to use a great deal of it and now she must be tested, as every other mage does, in the Magic Games where what she could be exposed and put her brother and sister at risk. To make matters more awkward she and Kai, a powerful dragon shifter who is on the Magic Council, are attracted to each other and he’s coaching her for her tests.I find it cool that the twin sisters each have their own series and yet what takes place in each affects the other. You get plenty of action, sexual tension, a romance and a mystery. Sera is definitely a kick butt, sarcastic and strong-willed heroine who is also very vulnerable when it comes to a relationship and her belief in controlling her magic.There is a small similarity to Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniels series in that each of the twins works for a mercenary guild and fights monsters with a sword in a world with a lot of magic. That’s pretty much where the similarities end as even though there are shifters and vampires, using magic is much bigger in this world.I’m enjoying the series and like Kai more in this second book.

No major spoilers :) By HappyMommyToTwo Four and a half solid stars.. the half point is because Sera's indecisiveness left me a little ticked off. I get why she doesn't want to confess being an "abomination" but it goes against this kickass, strong, kick butts and take names personality. Kia supported her, stood with her, gave her plenty of reasons to trust him and....argh. I wanted to see her take her destiny and Kai (yummy) by the horns but..I only got half of that wish. So if you're expecting them to end up together by the conclusion of book two then don't hold your breath, they do but she still doesn't trust so...their story continues.. I swear Alex's story is becoming my favorite of the two.In this book Sera enters the magic games, meets her inner Dragon and confronts a new villain. So very good.Well-written, excellent action and so much clean romance, I was pleasantly surprised. I patiently await the next in the series.
