By Martha This is everything that was expected, Anyone who does buy the book has to be very careful with the book in turning pages and closing the book the things go back into place. As with any children's pop up books. Although this is not intended for children! The person I bought it for very much enjoyed it.

What we have here is like nothing you've seen before . These aren't the pop up books I grew up with . No no , this is paper art engineering of the highest order ! A brain buffet of unimaginable order ! Even Rick Grimes would wince once or twice at this blaster piece !! I've been through a lot in my lifetime ( haven't we all ,) and seen many strange and wondrous sights . But I wasn't prepared for the horror , oh the horror that practically made me sleep with the house lights on , all the house lights , yikes ! This book will go down in history as absolutely the scariest pop up book ever made ! Not for the kiddies though as this will probably cause involuntary loss of bladder control for them ( but hey , we've most all been there !). Please note - I recommend if you do get this great work of art , that you slowly and carefully open your new prized possession as slow as a "walker !" Because quick movement will only draw more walkers attention and may thus accidentally damage the pages . Trust me , I'm an expert . Read with the lights on full power so even Z's are easier on the eyes but if that fails go in disguise heh heh he ... .

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A SHORT STORY OF APPROXIMATELY 8000 WORDS. IT IS NOT A FULL LENGTH NOVEL. The last person Detective Sergeant Kate Redman wants to see while she's doing her Christmas shopping is habitual petty thief and homeless alcoholic Charlie Petworth. While she knows that Charlie steals small things in part to get a warm bed for the night, it's still annoying, particularly in the season of good will. Then a far more serious crime occurs and Kate realises that Charlie might well be involved. But why would he go from stealing a packet of flower seeds to stealing a little toddler? And is there more to this case than at first meets the eye? A short story written especially for fans of the Kate Redman Mysteries, this short, seasonal mystery is from crime writer Celina Grace, author of the Kate Redman Mysteries, The Asharton Manor Mysteries and the upcoming historical mystery series, Miss Hart and Miss Hunter Investigate.

Wonderful Kate Redman Christmas short story By Amazon Customer This is a very heart warming glimpse into Kate Redman's character at this special time of year, and a great Christmas gift from Celina Grace to her readers. There is a crime involved, but I especially enjoyed just knowing more about Kate in her personal feelings. Why would a local derelict come to the local police station with an angelic blonde 18-month old baby girl saying, "her name is Joy!" right before Christmas? Especially when a distraught couple has moments before come in claiming their 18- month old baby daughter, Sophia, has been kidnapped? Kate's intuition as a police officer quickly uncovers much beyond the surface linking both incidents. If you're not already a Kate Redman fan it would probably be better to start with any of Celina's full length stories dealing more with her professional life as a Detective Sargent in Abbeyford. This is an excellent short story with a hidden brutal crime, but there's insufficient time to develop the back story explaining Kate and the other officers in her unit. If you start with the 1st Kate Redman story you will soon become a fan.

The seasonal short story is a free download on Amazon and although there is a Kate Redman Mystery series this can be read as a stand alone. Having just noticed the first in the series is also free I’ve downloaded that also. I liked the short glimpse of Kate’s personality and would like to know more about her back story and work life. I think this is a series I’ll enjoy.Detective Sergeant Kate Redman is last minute Christmas shopping when homeless man, Charlie, is caught shoplifting as she is leaving the store."Outside the shop. Kate stopped to let Charlie gather up the lead of his dog, Baxter. “Come on, then. Down to the station with you.”Once they were all in Kate’s car, she turned the heater up to full. Charlie was shivering.“When was the last time you ate, Charlie?” she asked. She could smell the booze on him now they were both shut into an enclosed space. “Kate has arrested Charlie on several occasions for petty theft and takes him down to the station on her way home and makes sure he gets a meal. He’s kept in overnight and released the following morning. But when he shows up again with a baby in his arms Kate is on the case. The baby’s parents are already at the station, having reported their 18 month old daughter missing. As Kate delves deeper, unwilling to believe Charlie abducted the baby, a terrible previous crime is uncovered and an investigation reopened.Good twist at the end. Although it’s a short, a surprising amount is packed into the well written story. Hints are dropped but still, it kept me guessing. The plot unfolds realistically and I love that Kate cares about, and treats, Charlie as a person in his own right, and as someone who is just down on his luck.

Roche Joy by Celina Grace may be billed as a short work of literature but it isn't short on dramatic elements! The author creates a story that appeals to reader's emotions in the creation of her endearing characters. The storyline grabs hold of you, captivating your attention from start to finish. The relationship between the main characters and the homeless man Charlie is truly touching. I loved the twist at the end where everything is revealed to the reader which clearly explains the background that lead to present day events! The author ties up any loose ends perfectly in a short amount of pages. I definitely recommend Joy: A Kate Redmond Short Story for Christmas by Celina Grace as a must read!

EXCERPT (FROM CODENAME: NIGHT WITCH): Sigrid had been trained since childhood for moments exactly like this. She was made to survive. But all her training, all the shouted words of her instructors, abandoned her. She couldn't focus on anything, she couldn't concentrate, and it was going to get her killed. She didn't even see the gully until she tripped and fell into it, rolling down the embankment. But it was enough to shake away the fog. That, and the sound of alarms blaring behind her. Scores of men were emerging from the facility's entrance behind her. Soldiers. A hunting party. Then she heard something else: barking. Dogs. They had bloody dogs. Glancing back, she saw the search beams and heard their shouts. From somewhere behind her, hidden amongst the trees, an air vehicle was sent aloft. Sigrid glanced skyward. Thunderhawks. She counted three of the heavy gunships rising above the canopy of pines. Two of them rumbled toward her and then past, close enough for her to feel the heat of their thruster wash blast over her. She hadn't even remembered cloaking. It was perhaps the only thing that saved her. The third Thunderhawk stayed back. It hovered above the soldiers, moving with them. Belly-mounted floodlights illuminated the woods, lighting their way. They'd be scanning for her. She could only hide so long. She had to move; she had to stay ahead. Lost, alone and armed only with the stolen knife, Sigrid did the only thing she could. She ran. SYNOPSIS: The unthinkable has happened. Sigrid Novak, the most dangerous and wanted person in the history of the Federation of Corporate Enterprises, has been captured. For the women of New Alcyone—women just like her, genetically reengineered and trained since childhood to be the most effective killers in the galaxy—this is a staggering loss. For the Independents, the rebels who captured her, this is a boon beyond measure. If they can figure out how to control her. Now, six years have passed since the events of Bellatrix, and for six years Sigrid Novak has been gone, vanished, with no sign, no word and no trace. But all has not been quiet within the Federation. The Council for Trade and Finance has been murdered, assassinated, and the death toll among the Federation's ruling elite continues to rise. With every corporate enclave that falls, the legend grows. They call her the Night Witch. A champion to some, a nightmare for others. Wherever she goes, death is soon to follow. Then, in an abandoned CTF research facility—and after so many years lost—a woman awakens. Her name is Sigrid Novak. And she is very, very angry.

8 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Simply Awesome! By TK Toppin I've been a fan of Cary Caffrey since he first released The Girls From Alcyone, and since then, eagerly awaited each subsequent release to the series. Codename: Night Witch did not disappoint. Taking place a few years after The Machines of Bellatrix, the answers to the cliff-hanging ending is finally revealed, and it did not disappoint! We follow Sigrid through her many exciting diversions as each new truth is uncovered. As always, Caffrey's stories are about love, loyalty and honour, the keys to what motivates a person to do what they have to do. Just when you think Sigrid is going to call it quits, she gets back up and plows onward, with interest! Loved this story, the fluid way the characters interacted with each other, the revelations of answers to many questions, the vibrant setting of a future world that makes it seem so real, and the awesome action. And the ending, wow. I see another sequel in the future.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Sigrid Novak is the Ulitmate Girl from Alcyone By cathie1245 Sigrid Novak has come a long way in book 3, but yet she doesn't remember how she got there. Fleeting voices and images whispering in her mind of deeds so terrible that she's not even sure she wants to remember. The battle scars run deep, inside and out. Yet again, we are kept on the edge of our seats through a relentless torrent of action and intrigue and not just of battles with evil men vs Girls from Alcyone, but of the war raging inside of Sigrid's mind to regain herself. Sigrid knows what she has to do to free herself and her sisters from what Harry Jones has relentlessly pursued them for, but can she save them all from herself.

Praise for Codename: Night Witch By Amazon Customer I have been a fan of the series "The Girls from Alcyone" for a while now and I was eagerly awaiting the third book. Well, let me tell you it did not disappoint! Sigrid is true to form with lots of action packed scenes and of course, romance. I would DEFIANTLY recommend this book and this series. Five stars from me, this was a FANTASTIC read that I instantly devoured.
