Armed with a highlighter in one hand and a box of tissue in the other, I readied myself for the spiritual surgery that I imagined this book would perform. I had worn the mask of strength and great faith for so long that I believed my own hype. After reading Faithing It, I had to come face to face in the mirror to tell myself that it is time to stop faking it and time for ‘faithing it.’ Before this book, due to some circumstances in my life, my faith was flat lining. Faithing It became my defibrillator and now, I am strengthened, refocused, and embracing my journey and the challenges it brings with excitement of how God is going to navigate me through as I put my faith back in Him. Cora’s transparent sharing, anecdotes and practical lessons and powerful prayers give the reader just what they need to bring their purpose back to life! This not just a book but an investment in yourself, in your faith! Thank you Cora for allowing yourself to be used by God during this set time! Faithing It: Bringing Purpose Back to Your Life!

I've always felt like I've had a decent level of faith but I will admit at times I have pulled back due to the circumstance. There have been times when things got hard and I quit (temporarily). This book encouraged me to NEVER give up and it also showed the sacrifice and sometimes pain that comes with the process. However, during the valley moments of my process it reminded that God is always with me and he is developing character, integrity, trust and confidence in His ability to work on my behalf. We have to fight for our PURPOSE! We can't back down because things get hard...we can't cave in...we can't quit. This book truly reignited and realigned my faith. I feel like I have faith to move mountains...I not only feel it but I know it to be fact. This book is also an "easy ready" meaning you don't have to force yourself to get through the book. You actually have to force yourself to put the book down and go to sleep.

By Loverly718 Disclaimer: I did receive an advanced copy, but it was not in exchange for a positive review so everything that I am going to outline is my opinion. I recommend this book for many reasons, the most important being the more times there is a clarion call to return to faith the more equipped we are to finish the journey we are called to. I walk away reminded that faith is not a moment, it is an ever evolving ever-growing process by which we cultivate our minds and spirits to be more like the God we follow. That submission to His will and waiting for His guidance is part of a process that was not designed to destroy us but to strengthen us. Faith is both the key and the doorway through which we walk toward power and destiny. Along this journey there are small directional signs that let us know that we’re headed in the right direction, despite how lost we may feel, and I believe that Faithing It by Cora Jakes Coleman is one of those directional signs to let us know that the promise is still ours and that by facing it we there will be a win.Faithing It: Bringing Purpose Back to Your Life!

Win, Love, or Draw (Marriage & Mayhem Book 1), by Crystal L Barnes

Review "Crystal Barnes's first novel, Win, Love, or Draw, takes the reader on an exciting journey to Cater Springs, Texas, circa 1877. This book has everything you could ask for: a pretty, strong leading woman; a handsome, gun-toting man; and take-your-breath-away shootouts! The book is also a beautiful love story with a common thread of forgiveness running through the pages. Barnes shares my love for the great state of Texas, and it comes through in her writing. I'm proud to recommend this debut novel by author and friend Crystal Barnes." --Annette O'Hare, author of Northern LightLove lost, love regained, forgiveness, regrets, second chances. . .these are all themes in Win, Love, or Draw, a solid debut novel from Texas native Crystal Barnes. Throw in a few villains, heroes, and even a feisty gun-totin' female and you've got the perfect setup for a heart-pounding adventure balanced with beautifully timed moments of comedic relief. This delightful historical offers readers an exciting read, and more than enough romantic tension to keep em hangin' on for the ride. Highly recommended! - --Janice Thompson, author of Mismatched in Texas

This time I didn't need to overlook anything. This is a well written, exciting Western Romance with plenty of action, adventure and romance. The fact that it is written from a Christian perspective for me was all the better. Unlike some "Christian" fiction books that come across as either preachy or with the Christianity tacked on as an afterthought; Win Love or Draw was just a western romance that happened between to characters that could have been real life Christians. They struggled and feel short at times but they kept striving to live as Christians. The action was fast, the adventures were thrilling and the romance was at times sweet and at times rocky and at times passonate. I loved this book and really loved the plot device of marriage as a waltz the author used.

Sam ran off five years ago and left Cathrine pregnant and alone. She had to fend for herself and their son. He returns after five years and wants to pick up where they left off. She has other ideas, like never letting him close enough to hurt her again or to hurt their son. She has problems of her own to deal with namely the General and his group of bad men. Then Sam comes home and adds to her troubles. They fight and forgive to only fight again. Finally seeking help from God and the local church they learn to dance. I loved how Ms. Barnes wove meaning and scripture into this book without being preachy. What a refreshing read! I highly recommenced this new author!

I read book two first (I know - backwards!). I enjoyed this book immensely. The main characters are strong, yet struggle with issues of trust and forgiveness. I haven't read many westerns, and I learned quite a lot about life on a ranch in the Old West. There are several touching scenes, especially the one where Sam and Catherine learn what waltzing and marriage have in common. Highly recommended, and I can't wait for book three!

Terra Froese likes to keep people at arm's length and change her address regularly. It keeps life simple. Uncomplicated. But when a bad choice turns her life and her perceptions of herself upside down she heads out of the city and across the country to find temporary refuge with her sister, Leslie. Terra takes her own emotional baggage on her trip to her sister, Leslie, hoping to dump it somewhere along the way. But when she is forced to stay in Holmes Crossing, Terra has to come face to face with her past and the decisions that haunt her still. What others have to say about All In One Place: “I literally could not put this book down. A poignant, touching story that made me reassess the way I view the lost souls who wander across might. You have to read this book.” Colleen Coble, author of The Inn at Ocean’s Edge “With sure, strong strokes and a touch of humor, Carolyne Aarsen paints an intriguing portrait of a woman on the run, a sister who’s settled in, and a town as rugged as the people who populate it. You’ll know you’re in the hands of a master storyteller within the first few pages of All In One Place.” Angela Hunt, author of the Reluctant Beauty series

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Sequel to The Only Best Place is standout! By Christina Lockstein All In One Place by Carolyne Aarsen is the sequel to last year's The Only Best Place. This book features Terra Froese, the sister of Leslie VanderKeere. Terra is on the run from an abusive boyfriend and turns to the only family she has: Leslie. Unfortunately, she meets Amelia who takes her to a bar and soon Leslie is paying Terra's bail and picking her up from jail. Not a fortuitous reunion. Terra takes a job at the local diner to pay Leslie back and soon finds herself falling for police deputy named Jack. Terra's fear of trust and rebellious ways mean she's in for trouble. I loved The Only Best Place, and I was not disappointed in its sequel. Terra is a wry character always ready with her cynical wit to defuse a situation. Aarsen does an amazing job of writing Terra from a completely different point of view from Leslie. Leslie was easy for me to relate to as a wife and mother trying to make it through each day in unexpected circumstances. Terra is very different, and yet Aarsen is able to make her come alive. Terra's vulnerability cracks through on rare occasions, and when it does, it shines. St. Francis of Assisi said to preach the Gospel always, and if necessary use words. Terra sees the Gospel working through the various denizens of town, and while it frightens her, it also pulls her toward the Lord. The ending with Eric seemed a bit cliched to me, but Terra's will to fight put a different spin on a scene that has been written in many books before. The resolution was never truly in doubt to anyone except Terra. This is a wonderful read.

All in One Place ~ Reviewed By Novel Reviews Carolyne Aarsen spins a story that proves blood is thicker than water and that regardless of the past, family ties are strong. There are moments of laughter and times of frustration as the reader quickly passes through the pages of this easy read. I couldn't help but fall in love with the depth Aarsen places into her characters making one think twice about those in need of Christ and how we can affect them. All In One Place is a captivating and enjoyable story spun together with all the perfect pieces.Reviewed by Cindy SprolesMountain Breeze Ministries

What she didn't know was why she had chosen to go to the backwater town of Harland, Montana. Sure, her sister lived there. But she hadn't so much as spoken to Leslie in months--even though Leslie's son had been battling for his life and Leslie had emailed her time and again. Still, she was here. The question was, would her sister be willing to pick up where they left off? Without demanding to know the secrets that had kept Terra away during the last trying year?Of course, trouble seems to follow Terra here, too. Within a couple hours she ends up on the wrong side of the law--and hence her sister. To make matters worse, Leslie's spouting something about "faith" and "God." And why is it that the officer who arrested her won't get out of her mind and seems to be popping up everywhere she is? She has little choice but to stick around until her court hearing. Assuming she can survive life in Harland. All in One Place is, quite simply, a fantastic book. I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked it up, but what I found was a story cleverly and wittily written, filled with insight, drama, and a comedic touch. Terra, from whose point of view the story is told, is a realistic, worldly woman, lovable in spite of her biases and foibles. She knows her own failings and is determined to make up for some of them; which is why she finds it so difficult to accept that there's a God out there who cares about her. Struggling with a rough childhood and her own decisions as an adult, she finds a community and friends in Harland that she never expected. I loved the fact that I could believe her, even when I didn't agree with her.Carolyne Aarson delivers a novel that needs to be read. A hint of romance, lessons in faith, and an intense look into one woman's soul combine into a story that's not to be missed. My heart was touched, my smile was teased, and I hated each time I had to put it down. Quick and easy to read, you'll enjoy it as much as you'll appreciate it.

Gort I have a hard time putting down any book by Sarah Alexi as we travel to the Greek village. This one was such a sweet, romantic, and yet page turning story that I had to read it in nearly one sitting. The little details, descriptions of people and places, revisiting former characters and heart-tugging narrative make me a 'forever 'Greek Village' and Sara Alexi reader.

Each story is different; however, you'll find characters from previous novels showing up in the background of the stories. Yet, each story stands alone. Try one, and you'll want to read more. Great writer.

However my head and my heart go there every time I read one of the Greek Village stories. I love these people and I love this place. I use to want to go there physically but I now feel like I have been there many times and know so many wonderful people there. I am satisfied to keep this place and these people here in my heart and my mind. I can go visit anytime. This story is a story in a story In a story about people we only once new casually and now Sara has taken us into their very hearts and let us get to know them as if we knew them all their lives. Like others who read Sara's books I can't put it down and then when I do I wish I had made it last longer. Good to know she has another one coming out soon.

By Roiet The problem with Mary Sue books like this is that they are so enthusiastically written that it takes a while for conscious thought to seep through the cracks until one realizes that the book isn't very good. I made it through the first two, and I'm done. The author plans at least thirteen books in this series, and I won't be there for the ride. The tragedy of this series is that it had potential - a moderately interesting storyline, decent action, but was squandered through some underwhelming writing, poor editing, and completely flat characters. So - in the first book, Bethany Anne (I'm surprised he didn't just name her "Mary Sue," that's about as close as you can get without doing so) is an attractive, highly skilled, intensely honorable daughter of a high-ranking military officer and the obligatory dead mother. She also suffers from an incurable PLOT DEVICE that will kill her in six months, because there is no gray in this series AT ALL and of course, the vampire who turns her will only choose people who are near death because honor. This he holds to, even though he has absolutely no compunctions about killing anyone else, including people who give him lip. Bethany Sue accepts the offer to become the vampire - OF COURSE, because the series would end much more quickly, and is transformed into a super vampire - becoming taller, hotter, and ridiculously invulnerable. How ridiculously invulnerable? Someone blows a large hole through her torso and she is mildly inconvenienced. In the second book, her foul mouth, astounding hotness, and unmatchable prowess at combat endears herself to the military bros who become her team (and all of them are totally "Special Forces Stu,") and begins to put herself in charge of all the vampires and werewolves. That's where we stop . . . and that's where I get off.Sometimes I feel bad, giving less than stellar reviews to books like this. There really is so much enthusiasm that it is almost contagious. But when I step back, try to identify nuances in the book (there are none), three-dimensional characters (also none), genuine conflict (none), flaws that might make the main character interesting (none) and anything that might make this book of more than passing value (also none), and I realize that someone's got to point out that not only does the emperor have no clothes, but the cut is very unflattering.Takeaway: If you are looking for a vampire-werewolf-special force novel, try the Monster Hunter series. If you are looking for a better-written Mary Sue novel, read the Ell Donsaii things that Dahmers churns out. And if you are the writer, you have some potential and could do much better.

I'm already on book three and I started reading them today. The negatives: sometimes knowing which character is talking; happens a lot in the first book but evens out in the second, still happens but not as much. Sometimes inserts the wrong character name while they are talking or thinking. I do like that this is from an multiple characters point of view, but it can be difficult occasionally to follow because the transition is not always seamless. The grammar is ok but not perfect but did not take away from the story. The PROS: love the story line, love that is a continuation with lots of laughs and action. I'm looking forward to see where the author is going with this. I'm stopping now to read the third book, but because I'm digging this author I wanted to send a shout out!Update: I have read books 3 & 4 and a lot of the issues I had with the first two books have been addressed. 3 & 4 is so much smoother to follow. I am seriously enjoying this story. I about to start on book 5 and hope to finish before bed tonight, so this does not follow me to work tomorrow lol!

Smart authors often predict the future with uncanny accuracy. (Michael is using science fiction to mimic what is happening in the world. Rather brilliant.)Now Here's The IMPORTANT THING about this book series by Michael Anderle. VERY ENJOYABLE. The Characters Interact and Talk in a way I've not seen very often. Except in novels by award winning writers.Michael is a Great Story teller. Lousy speller. (Spell check is NOT your friend.) Fantastic Story and Character builder. (The spelling can be fixed. Only 1 in a million can Write like this.)Michael makes you want to read more. And he writes fast. Plus you Root for the main Character.Who has been given a STAR WARS Size problem to deal with.Good books make you forget where you are.Skip meals.YOU KNOW What I mean.Michael - KEEP UP the good work. There aren't enough writers who can THINK up plots and ideasthat Surprise the reader. Very much Appreciated! Glenn

‘…expert Davies effectively captures London of a later era in this taut page-turner’ – Kirkus Reviews 1895, London. Sherlock Holmes is between cases, his great mind unstimulated. But not for long. A Colonel Sapt of the Ruritanian Court journeys to England on a secret mission to save the country from anarchy. His mission is to engage the services of Rudolf Rassendyll once more to impersonate the King while the monarch recovers from a serious illness. But Rassendyll has mysteriously disappeared. In desperation, Sapt consults Sherlock Holmes who, with his faithful companion Watson, travels to the Kingdom of Ruritania in an effort to thwart the plans of the scheming Rupert of Hentzau in his bid for the throne. Written with pace and vigour, Sherlock Holmes and the Hentzau Affair is a wonderful blend of detective story and rousing adventure yarn. It is an exciting fusion of a Sherlock Holmes mystery with the Ruritanian world of intrigue and skulduggery of Anthony Hope's novel The Prisoner of Zenda .

However, it is set in more traditional smaller type without empty filler spaces, so my impression after reading is one of a full and satisfying novel. Having read many Holmes re-creations, I find the most unique aspect here is Dr. Watson's active participation and even excitement at joining the "game afoot"; we often wonder about the relationship between Holmes and Watson, and why Watson would care to pursue it if he were treated as an eternal ingénue in the shadow of Holmes' genius. None of that here. There are a few flaws. Without creating spoilers, I find a few of the introductory deductions obvious. And, later, both Holmes and Watson completely miss a conclusion they should have guessed. But the basic premise of the story is most enjoyable and makes one wonder about the truth of "history."

Mr. Davies shows that he is familiar with all the quirks and traits of both Holmes and Watson as revealed in the Canon. And, he provides us with an exciting story as well. Those familiar with "The Prisoner of Zenda" will be more than happy with this slender volume. And for those who carp about tiny deviations from Doyle's writing, relax. No one can really compete with the original Holmes stories. But when you come across a really good one you should feel pleased to once again know that "the game is afoot".

6 of 8 people found the following review helpful. it was bound to be, i suppose By Daniel Barak having read mr.davies's excellent "the tangled skien", possibly the best holmes-dracula treatment yet created, i was intrigued some time ago by the possibility of a "holmes in zenda" story, which, as readers may recall, was briefly suggested in a footnote in "the seven per-cent solution" by nicholas meyer. it would seem that anybody who is anybody in both literary or realistic universes will cross paths with sherlock holmes. therein lies the problem: how to make holmes an integral part of another author's creation or historic circumstances while true to the vision of both conan doyle and the "crossed-over author"(pun intended|)? the solution would be to study carefully both the sherlockian cannon and the other author's work. yes, i repeat: do your homework! even authors who wish to tell us that in their version of the universe, in which sherlock holmes tracked dracula to baskerville manor, should learn their doyle and stoker! now, i mention this speciphic case because mr. davies himself has in "the tangled skein" proven himself capable of such careful study, thus earning accolades from the late peter cushing for the book.not so with the hentzau affair: sir anthony hope's two ruritania books, were written as a homage to alexander dumas, and are not short of intrigues and counter-intrigues to gladden the heart of detectives. i am not surprised to discover in this book direct reference, sadly brief, to "scandal in bohemia" as a case in point. however what we have here is a novel that seemes to touch all too briefly on incidents from both hope and conan doyle, rather than try to impose holmes on existing characters. the plot-drive of both ruritanian novels is such that the insertion of holmes is difficult in itself: the plot has sufficient drive without a detective to make much of a contribution, and i can understand the difficulty of that task, yet the attempt to recreate the plot of "prisoner of zenda" around holmes, is superficial in this case. i hoped for a story that could either be "sandwiched" between the ruritania novels and the holmes cannon, or, for watson's "true story behind the official version" which would have taken place near the end of "rupert of hentzau" and would have contained enough material for revelations coverable by a detective of holmes skills simply by studying the original hope books, but i'm not telling any more. still, since i've searched long for this book, and know that davies has perfected his craft considerably, it's four points.

Because you, being your best you, and living your best life, matters!

The Excellence Habit is biography of an idea, and the idea is simple. The main source of success is excellence, and excellence depends more on our internal circumstances. Grit, determination, and the discipline to put in the hard work as a matter of habit, and not a matter of need, are crucial. The Excellence Habit is a reminder that we are the owners of our success. There are no magic formulas, shortcuts, or secret sauce. The 7-rules, or 3 steps, or 12 laws that promise to change our lives - they won’t help, unless we do the work. We will learn from many, yet the most important steps, we need to take on our own. Over the course of our adult life, it is always us, who have the most power. We will not always be in control and nobody is. But we can choose to maximize our effect on this planet, on our loved ones and on our personal fulfillment by building an Excellence Habit. The Excellence Habit also examines the distinction between success and excellence. Success is achieving high goals. Excellence is doing the right thing, even when not driving towards any goal. It is a small mindset shift, which will produce big results. Excellence can and will lead to success. Success, on the other hand, can be the biggest enemy of excellence. More often than not success is measured in social influence, recognition and wealth. For those practicing it faithfully - Excellence is its own biggest reward!

Review "What Vlad calls the "excellence habit" may seem an easy change of attitude but is in fact a lifelong process. Some people are born with this gift but most can acquire it at any stage of their lives and following previous failures. This is the attitude and habit of those who are smart and brave enough to strive for the best and truly desire a fulfilling life." Vess G. "I highly recommend The Excellence Habit. I found the book to be very engaging and thought provoking. The author's ability to use real life examples to show the points he is trying to make and cross reference relevant academic research is exemplary. This is a great book that will certainly be very helpful for anyone wanting to increase their personal and professional performance." Juan Montoya "I would recommend this insightful book to anyone embarking on a new endeavor, starting a new job, wanting to start a new business, or about to make a big change in his or her life. Reading this book will help you take an honest look at yourself and teach you to mindfully make simple changes that can impact the outcome of your work in a big way." Rick Baggio "We all need help breaking bad habits and forming good ones. Vlad eloquently takes us on a journey beneath the iceberg and onto reality so we can make excellence a Habit. Great read, thoroughly recommend it." Michael Potts "What a great book! I love Amy Cuddy's story about overcoming obstacles and never giving up. What gets me motivated is reading about what someone went through to overcome tough times. There are some amazing examples. This book stays in my Kindle!" Shantee' Parks

This book has a positive tone and provides inspiration to readers. I recommend it to young professionals and everyone in need for motivation. Using down-to-earth examples, the author showcases excellence and success stories and discussions. With a friendly tone, the author suggests that each situation can end up in a success story and emphasizes these thoughts by providing real life exemplars. As a result, the concepts in this book can be easily applied to one's own life or can be used to help others see the light at the end of the tunnel.

It really shows how all of us need to make a small mental shift in our focus, looking at the little things that are so important and ignoring societal pressures for specific results. It clarifies the difference between excellence and success, and it demonstrates how we should aim for excellence through the recommended small changes. This book will make you re-examine your own behaviors. It will, I think, improve the quality of your life. It was nicely written and well organized. In my opinion, it was very helpful for anyone and everyone.
