A book worth reading By Nooshin Women of Shadow and Light is a book on the journey of a woman through her challenging life, written in a very fluent and impressive style as you feel you are on the scene. The stories are well connected together with in place flash backs here and there through the book. You would be drawn to finish it and would forget about time while reading.

The book captures details that enable you to feel as though you were there and experienced it all first hand. A must read.

Women of Shadow and Light is a fascinating and easy to read narrative By Amazon Customer Women of Shadow and Light is a fascinating and easy to read narrative. It is written so skilfully that one can read it as a true story, an autobiography, or as fiction. But, in whatever genre we place this book, we have to admire the lifelong efforts and challenges undertaken by its author, who has gone through the labyrinth of life and has fought, as a warrior, in crucial periods of contemporary history of Iran. These periods have been and still are so decisive in transforming of a people from tradition to modernity. Like many educated Iranians, she has paid exorbitant price to gain her freedom and secure her rights. Her courageous revealing of the fact that she has been abused as a child is the least but not the last price that someone can pay in a developing society. Although the motivation and exertion for transferring from tradition to modernity is high and powerful in such a society, the preventing engine for defusing this continuing trend is more forceful.
