Then, with their guests and families on site, Amanda disappeared. With a jealous sister, playboy groomsmen, Amanda’s former fiancé now married to a bridesmaid, and rumors about the “beloved” bride herself, Laurie and Under Suspicion host Alex Buckley quickly realize everyone has a theory about why Amanda vanished into thin air. One thing is certain: whoever was behind Amanda’s disappearance plans to keep the truth hidden “until death do they part…” The bestselling Under Suspicion series from Mary Higgins Clark and Alafair Burke offers “plenty of intrigue and excitement” (Publishers Weekly, on The Cinderella Murder). Laurie Moran listened as the teenager in front of her practiced her high school French. She was on line at Bouchon, the newly opened French bakery that was around the corner from her Rockefeller Center office. “Jay voo-dray un pan chocolate. Make that deux.” The cashier smiled patiently as she waited for the young woman to string together her next request. Clearly she was accustomed to these clumsy attempts by customers to practice their French, even though the bakery was in the heart of New York City. Laurie wasn’t feeling quite as patient. She was meeting with her boss, Brett Young, later this morning and still hadn’t decided which story to pitch first for her show’s next special. She needed as much time as possible to prepare. After a final “mare sea,” the girl left, a box of pastries in hand. Laurie was next. “I’ll be ordering in anglais, s’il vous plaît.” “Merci,” the woman said fervently. It had become a tradition that on Friday mornings she would stop at the bakery and bring in special treats for her staff—her assistant, Grace Garcia, and her assistant producer, Jerry Klein. They were grateful for the selection of tarts, croissants, and breads. After she placed the order, the cashier asked if she cared for anything else. The macarons looked delicious. Maybe just a few for Dad and Timmy after dinner, she promised herself, and as a treat for me if today’s meeting with Brett goes well. • • • As she stepped from the elevator on the sixteenth floor of 15 Rockefeller Center, she realized how the layout of the Fisher Blake Studios offices reflected the success of her work this past year. She used to be in a small windowless office, sharing an assistant with two other producers, but since she had created a true crime–based “news special” focusing on cold cases, Laurie’s career had taken off. Now she had a long row of windows in a spacious office filled with sleek, modern furnishings. Jerry had been promoted to assistant producer and occupied a smaller office next door. And Grace kept more than busy in a large open space just outside. The three of them now worked full-time on their show, Under Suspicion, freeing them from other run-of-the-mill news programming. Grace had recently turned twenty-seven but looked even younger. Laurie had been tempted more than once to tell Grace she didn’t need to wear all of the makeup she meticulously applied every day, but clearly Grace preferred a personal style quite different from Laurie’s classic tastes. Today, she wore a multicolored silk tunic over impossibly slim leggings, with five-inch platform boots. Her long black hair was pulled into an I Dream of Jeannie topknot, teased into a perfect fountain. Usually Grace lunged for the bakery bag, but today she did not. “Laurie,” she began slowly. “Something wrong, Grace?” Laurie knew her assistant well enough to recognize when she was upset. Just as Grace was about to explain, Jerry stepped out of his office. Standing between Jerry’s long, lanky frame and Grace in her sky-high heels always made Laurie feel short, even though she was a slender five-foot-seven. Jerry held up both palms. “There’s a lady sitting in your office. She just showed up. I told Grace to schedule an appointment for her at some other time. For the record, I had nothing to do with this.”Where to Download All Dressed in White: An Under Suspicion Novel, by Mary Higgins Clark, Alafair Burke

Branfield All Dressed in White is the latest addition to Mary Higgins Clark & Alafair Burke’s Under Suspicion mystery series. In this outing, the cast and crew of the cold case TV show are profiling the unsolved disappearance of a bride who vanished five years earlier.Television producer Laurie Moran is about to pitch her latest ideas for the next episode in her popular television show when Sandra Pierce drops by her office in hopes of convincing Laurie to feature her missing daughter’s case. Dubbed the Runaway Bride, Amanda Pierce vanished without a trace the day before her destination wedding and no one has seen or heard from her again. Despite a thorough investigation, the police could not say with any certainty that foul play was involved in her disappearance, but Sandra remains convinced Amanda’s fiancé Jeff Hunter murdered her for financial gain. Once all of the members of the wedding party and Amanda’s family agree to participate in the show, Laurie, along with her cast and crew, head to Palm Beach to reenact the events leading up to Amanda’s disappearance in hopes of solving the case.Laurie is no stranger to losing a loved one to murder and she understands better than anyone Sandra’s need for answers about her daughter’s disappearance. Laurie’s preliminary research supports the theory that Amanda did not leave under her own volition but with a plethora of suspects, which includes not only Jeff, but his current wife (and Amanda’s best friend) Meghan White, and Amanda’s sister Charlotte, Laurie still has a lot of work ahead of her. New clues emerge after reviewing the security footage from the hotel, but there is still very little evidence as to the perpetrator’s identity. During the course of the investigation, it also becomes apparent there are several members of the wedding party who are harboring secrets they are reluctant to have revealed. The pool of suspects is vast and the information that Laurie uncovers does not help narrow down her list or their possible reason for murdering Amanda. Jeff is a natural suspect since he stood to gain a vast fortune in the event of Amanda’s death. His rather quick marriage to Meghan also paints him in an unflattering light but does that also make him a killer? Meghan also falls under suspicion considering her marriage to Jeff but Laurie also discovers the two women were quarreling in the days leading up to Amanda’s disappearance. Close friend Kate Fulton is afraid a secret she is keeping will be exposed but does this have any bearing on what happened to Amanda? Jeff’s groomsmen are obnoxious and seemingly harmless but their actions are also closely scrutinized throughout the investigation. A surprise suspect emerges after the wedding photographer remembers his assistant was not initially questioned after Amanda’s disappearance. News about the murder of a student from the same campus where several of the key players attended college piques Laurie’s interest but is there any connection between that long ago homicide and Amanda’s case?Intricately plotted with a fantastic cast of characters, All Dressed in White is a cleverly written whodunit. This engaging and fast-paced mystery will stymie readers as Laurie and her team investigate their latest cold case in hopes of discovering the truth about what happened to missing bride Amanda Pierce. Another excellent collaboration from Mary Higgins Clark & Alafair Burke that old and new fans of the Under Suspicion series are sure to love.I received a complimentary copy for review.

Everyone's under suspicion on this reality show By Paul Mastin Mary Higgins Clark, best-selling author of dozens of mystery novels, has recently teamed up with Alafair Burke for a new series, the Under Suspicion novels. In the second title, All Dressed in White, the titular TV show, Under Suspicion, features the cold case of the Runaway Bride. Five years ago a wealthy bride-to-be disappeared from the resort where her elaborate destination wedding was to take place in mere hours. No body ever turned up, but the mother of the bride had never given up searching for her. The groom, on the other hand, married the missing bride's best friend two short years later. The reality TV show gathers the family and wedding party together at the same resort, revisiting the scene, asking hard questions, and seeking answers that investigators never were able to find. Clark and Burke cleverly build the story through the show's interviews with the friends and family, and with carefully placed conversations and interactions. Like any good mystery, they spread the suspicion around liberally, but carefully conceal the identity of the real culprit to the very end. (If I read more mystery novels, or maybe if I were just more clever and/or devious, I probably would have figured it out earlier.)I like the way Clark and Burke tell the story. They include very little action for most of the book. The story is told through the interviews and investigation. Building toward the climax, the action climbs exponentially. I thought of those indoor bike races, where it looks like the races are cruising along easily for most of the race, all keeping a similar pace, until the last little bit where they furiously race to the finish. All Dressed in White is an entertaining, suspenseful read. I enjoyed the Under Suspicion characters and would definitely look forward to meeting them again next time Clark and Burke decided to put their minds together. Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for the complimentary electronic review copy!

By Brenda Telford Under Suspicion had become very successful in the short time Laurie Moran had been running the show. When searching for their next cold case in the series to investigate, Laurie had been approached by Sandra Pierce, the mother of a young woman who had been touted in the media as “The Runaway Bride" – five years previously Amanda had been with her family and bridal party at The Grand Victoria Hotel in Palm Beach in the days before her big day. Then with only one full day left until the ceremony, Amanda had vanished. As the Under Suspicion team researched and investigated, their preparations took them to the Florida hotel, where they were to recreate the night of Amanda’s disappearance. Even though the members of the original wedding party had moved on with their lives, they had all agreed to come together to try to discover what had happened. Along with Amanda’s fiancé now being married to her best friend, also a member of the wedding party, Laurie could tell the vibes from other people within the group were varied. The jealousy and blame, theories and speculations were intense – Laurie and her team, including host Alex Buckley knew this mystery would deepen; the lies would intensify, before the truth would hopefully be exposed…When I read the first in this series, The Cinderella Murder by author Mary Higgins Clark and Alafair Burke I thoroughly enjoyed it. Book #2, All Dressed in White is another gripping instalment; I’ll be continuing with this series! Filled with twists and turns that lead the reader first one way, then the next; I found I couldn’t put it down. All Dressed in White is a fabulous crime/mystery novel which I have no hesitation in recommending highly.
