Keenan Fitzpatrick "Fitz" is appointed by the Governor to be a State Police Special Investigator. Quite the mess in Ely, Nevada with a couple of murders committed recently. Ely is a small town and hasn't had a murder in recent years. Little did he know at the time but this was just the tip of the iceberg. Sheriff Juliane Schreiber has been suspended and her husband Anton is missing. Fitz knows her and had more than a working relationship previously.At first appearances, this book seems to be nothing more than a multiple murder. Don't let that fool you as the author weaves a fascinating story involving prisoners, a High School Secretary, more murders and the US Marshals into his story. It starts out slowly but when the investigation gets rolling along, it moves rapidly until the conclusion. Amazing what evil men a small town like Ely can hold. One thing I really liked about this book is the fact that the author has women in pivotal roles.Most highly recommended..

The plot is convoluted and becomes a shootout in snow and routine trails. Each lawman and woman enforce the kind of law that will bring to justice the worse kind of terrorist. Trevor Scott is on top of my list of authors to follow.

Plain and simple but riveting in the flow of the plot and easy to visualize mentally. Kept a good pace yet left out unnecessary trivia and philosophy.
