Anica Tomlin, business major, has just learned that the man she's been planning her future around, her Global Finance professor, already has a beautiful wife and family. Ani cashes in her graduation gift to herself a little early—a trip to Tuscany—but from the moment she boards the wrong train in Pisa, her plans for solitude and self-indulgence begin to unravel around her. When a bicycle accident thrusts Ani into the skilled hands of the dashing Dr. Cosimo Lazzaro, she reluctantly accepts his invitation to recover in his family's country villa, perched on a hilltop surrounded by the Lazzaro olive groves. But it's been a black year for olive growers all over Italy, and generations of tradition are being put to the test like never before. Ani is swept up in the drama of life in Tuscany, the convergence of old and new, and the passions that drive people to pursue the desires of their hearts. Just as Ani begins to get her feet under her again, an unexpected turn of events leaves her doubting the very existence of happily-ever-after, unless she can learn to trust the desires of her own heart. Although All the Way to Heaven is a stand-alone novel, it is the first book in The Fallout Series, a collection of sweet contemporary romances that follow characters featured in the first book.

Review "Becky's vivid descriptions place you right into Italy, the quaint village, and then the lush, Tuscan countryside. I highly recommend this book as an excellent means of escaping reality and taking a journey you may not even realize you need, but you do!" ~ Bestselling Author of the Never Forgotten Series, Kelly Risser."A delightfully funny and romantic novel, rich with vivid descriptions of the Tuscan countryside and people who seem more like friends than characters on a page." ~ A. Hardgrave"A romantic setting, irresistible men, and loving family relationships make this a beautiful, memorable story. If you've ever dreamed of visiting Italy, All the Way to Heaven will take you there." ~ Heather Day Gilbert, Vikings of the New World Sagas
From the Author All the Way to Heaven offers readers a unique flavor with its Italian setting and references tocomposer Giacomo Puccini; in particular, his opera La rondine. Whilevisiting the quaint, medieval city of Lucca, Italy, birthplace and stompinggrounds of the brilliant Puccini, I knew I'd find a way to use it as thesetting for an international romance novel one day. When news reports beganairing, labeling 2014 "The Black Year" for Italian olive growers, it felt likethe opportune time to bring Lucca, also renowned for its unique olive oils, outof the idea box and onto the pages of All the Way to Heaven. I do hope you enjoy Ani's journey through the Tuscan countryside as she gains a better understanding of who she is and what she wants out of life in this coming of age novel. All the Way to Heaven is the first book in THE FALLOUT SERIES, but it can be read as a stand-alone novel. Book 2, A Light in the Dark, follows the story of Ani's best friend back home in Midtown, California.I hope you enjoy getting to know these friends and families who live on Maple Avenue in Midtown, Southern California. Although Midtown is a fabricated place, it is loosely based off the city of Redlands, California. So far, all my novels either take place in Midtown or are about characters who came from Midtown. If you pay attention, you'll find familiar settings and people crossing paths from one novel to another, and from one series to another, as well.
From the Inside Flap I came awake slowly, regret pressing down on my eyelids. A haunting aria had found wings and escaped my dreams to accompany me back to reality. The words were unintelligible, but each phrase tore new holes in the fragile fabric of my heart. I groaned and curled in on myself, not yet ready to face a new day.Alone. It was not how I'd planned to spend my first trip to Italy.Morning, however, wasn't something I could hold back by refusing to open my eyes. The melody of the rich mezzo soprano didn't fade away either, but grew louder and more heartfelt as the real-life songtress below my window warmed up in the morning sunlight....Seven AM in Lucca, and the quaint medieval town was teeming with life, fueled by a caffeine-and Mediterranean-air-induced high. Bicycle bells jingle-jangled, and boisterous greetings volleyed from one side of the narrow streets to the other. School children laughed and called out to comrades as they scurried off to class."Why is everyone so happy?" I pulled a lumpy pillow over my head, but I could find no entry back into the anesthetizing arms of sleep. My first morning in this enchanted place, and I felt more like a forgotten princess in a tower than a girl on a much-anticipated trip to Italy.

By Kit-Kat75 The story starts out with Ani discovering that her boyfriend has a family...and her heart is shattered. In an effort to heal, she takes her college graduation trip to Italy a few months early, but a bicycle accident leaves her without a thing to her name. Up to this point, I wasn't sure about the book and if it would draw me in enough or just be a downer, but after this point, I found myself pleasantly surprised to see that everything turned right around and completely engrossed me.I've never been to Italy, but I feel like I've been there now. Ms. Doughty's descriptions are vivid and detailed. Ani first encounters Paulo, but for some reason, although their paths have crossed a few times, he seems reluctant to help her. After the accident, Ani is taken to Dr Cosimo Lazzaro's family home to recover from her accident and finds herself enveloped in olive groves and romance. Cosimo is quite the charmer. Compared to David Gandy, he's very handsome and suave, yet Ani's heart isn't sure about another smooth talker. What's a girl to do--go for a reluctant man, a willing man, or no one at all?I couldn't get enough of the setting descriptions. I also loved the other characters. Each is full of a unique personality and true friendships are formed. I loved the growth and healing that Ani goes through. The surprising romance is toe tingling and believable. I love a story that is brain candy, yet has some substance and this is a perfect combination. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series!Content: swoony romance (kissing, but clean); mild violence (accident); no language or religious elements, aside from the characters visiting an ancient religious statue and mentioning a prayer. Clean!*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review*

A trip to Tuscany with friends By wyrtwizard College student Ani Tomlin has come to Lucca, Italy to help take her mind off a relationship that ended very badly when she discovers that her boyfriend is married with a family. Her vacation takes an unexpected turn on her first full day in Lucca when she is injured in a bicycle accident and her purse is stolen in the immediate aftermath of the accident, leaving Ani without her passport, driver's license, traveler's checks, credit cards, and cell phone. Without other resources, Ani is forced to rely on help from people she barely knows in order to return to her guesthouse. Soon it becomes clear that Ani's injuries are more extensive than she first thought, and she must rely again on strangers to get to a physician. After learning that she must remain off her feet while she recovers, Ani accepts an invitation to stay with the family of the handsome doctor who is treating her ankle injury. They operate an olive mill, and the harvest season is about to start.Ani soon finds herself falling for not one but two very different men. Having just left a failing relationship, should she pursue a new relationship with one of these two contenders? And if so, how can she choose between them! The book is a pleasure to read, with beautiful descriptions that immerse the reader into Lucca and the surrounding Tuscan countryside. The characters are believable and well-developed.The book is described as a coming of age tale in the "New adult" category, but women of any age will enjoy it. It does not particularly feel like a book for young adult readers, as some themes and situations are for mature readers. All the way to heaven is a clean read, with no vulger language or explicit sex or violence. There is reference to marital infidelity, but the descriptions of romance between characters do not progress beyond kissing. Probably the only dead giveaway showing the "new adult" status of the book is Ani's description of one character with thinning hair and the start of wrinkles as "in his late forties or early fifties, about the age of my dad." The novel is not overtly Christian fiction, but there are brief mentions of faith through the book. Some of the characters discuss the Bible, pray, and attend church regularly, though we do not actually see them at church. The title of the book is inspired by the writings of the late medieval mystic St. Catherine of Siena, and one of the characters briefly discusses St. Catherine's philosophy. At first I was a little bothered by the way Ani got caught up in a storybook romance (or two romances!) so soon after her previous relationship ended in an epically bad fashion. Wouldn't it have been better for her to gain more confidence in herself before getting into another relationship? And how often do people really meet potential soulmates while on a short vacation out of the country? However, the plot developed in a plausible way, and Ani certainly had her share of setbacks that balanced the promise of new romance, so I just sat back and enjoyed my time in Tuscany with Ani and the other characters. I am glad to see that this book is the start of a new series.I received an advance reading copy in exchange for a fair review.
